M Adaptive Suspension?

Hi all,

I am considering purchase of new 330i with M sport equipment and I am considering adding adaption suspension. Mostly I would drive the car in the city where roads are not nearly perfect and it will be a bumpy experience so I wanted know if someone tried new adaptive suspension in test drive? I found that F30 with adaptive suspension in comfort mode was useless for these roads, car would still feel to stiff.

It's the RFT not the suspension. First thing you do is swap to P4S

I think adaptive comes with M Sport? So you may get it anyways unless you opt for a delete (unsure if that’s an option).

I’m not sure if anyone here has driven the G20 setup in real life yet, but if it helps, I’ve had adaptive suspension on all my F30’s and live in a city. Never complained about it being too stiff or uncomfortable.

You don't get adaptive with M sport, you have passive. Adaptive is something extra

G20 will have the so called "active" suspension, which will add more comfort while maintaining agility, on both the standard and m sport (10mm lower) packs, and then adaptive as an option.

From what I read in the pre production drives, both the standard and M-sport passive suspensions in the G20 are better sorted than the F3x models, both for comfort and handling.

Comments within the reviews indicate the Adaptive M-sport gives a similar improvement. Hopefully keeping that improvement with the wider working envelope, than either passive suspension can give.

We really need more reviews and a few test drives.

Bummer. I think I read the ordering guide wrong. It says if you have ZMP (M Sport Package), you get:

704M sport suspension or 2VF (Adaptive M Suspension)

But it doesn't really clarify how to select 2VF within ZMP. I see 2VF is included in ZTR (Track Handling Package), so I guess you need to get ZTR if you want 2VF?

Really frustrating part is that ZTR isn't available for xDrive. So you can't even have adaptive suspension on xDrive then? That seems like a downgrade from the F30, since you could have adaptive suspension on the F30 xDrive (unless I'm missing something here).

Of course the online configurator is of no help at all so referring only to the ordering guides only in this case. Maybe the ordering guides were updated since late 2018 and hopefully what I'm looking at is wrong.

Pricing guide says 2VF is a $700 option on top of ZMP. So you shouldn't need ZTR for 2VF.

Ditto this... use the order guide and pricing guide as your bible.. the online config is not usually 100% right until the last day of the model year... then it goes right back to crap and starts over

I have adaptive M suspension on F36. It is not soft in comfort mode but You literally don't get tired even if you drive 800km in a day. Yet you do not need to use sport mode for suspension on curvy road cause car do not roll thanks to the mighty roll bars. I would take it again. I hope I've helped a little.

On track with the G20 adaptive suspension? Or track experience with adaptive suspension in general?

How is M adaptive suspension compared to M sport suspension? Has anyone driven both to compare?

I purchased car with M adaptive suspension and it's really good. In comfort it's soft and in sport plus not to stiff. Haven't drive the card with M sport but my old E90 with regular suspension is stiff as a rock vs. M adaptive on G20.

I've not driven adaptive but have tried a standard M Sport (18" wheels, non-RFT) tyres and I found it too firm on UK roads. It was however much better than a 2006 330d M Sport I ran a long time back so it's definitely not awful. The G20 wasn't harsh but did jiggle a fair bit at both low and high speeds. I'd recommend trying one for a good long drive before ordering.

Just ordered my 330e with adaptive to (hopefully!) cure that problem.

Standard Vs Adaptive

I did test drive both standard and adaptive suspension in 320D M sport and I chose Adaptive suspension for my car.

I did feel adaptive suspension is way better than the normal.

I would recommend you to test drive a rough route one after the other so you could make an informed decision.
