Car feels sluggish when it’s dirty

My 330i is extremely peppy, but I've noticed it gets sluggish. However, after I hand wash the car, it's peppy again. But only if I clean the wheels.

For example, this past week it became sluggish after two weeks of not washing it. Even in sports mode when I put my foot on the gas, the car just didn't just fly as it usually does. So, I washed the car yesterday, but I didn't have time to clean the brake dust off of the wheels. I noticed that it ended up remaining slow and sluggish.

Anyone else experience this?

My car can't seem to make up its mind, sometimes it pulls like a train other times it feels gutless.. and that's the m340i...

Highly doubt brake dust would cause sluggish response...

Different gas, premium? I live in South Jersey and can’t use WaWa gas in my car or motorcycle without it running like crap.

Since were in the discussion, anyone know any good products to use for the rims... I have to constantly clean my wheels to get the enormous amount of brake dust off... They literally get dirty again after a hour of driving.. any good spray on products ??

Meguiars Hot Rims cleaner for painted wheels. It works perfect. Also get Beadmaker and coat wheels with it to reduce brake dust from sticking to wheels.

Guys I'm totally serious lol. It's 100% sometimes it responds slowly other times it's fast. Always use the same shell v power gas.

Always turn off auto stop as it hits the breaks hard.

Yes, it's well known that a dirty vehicle results in an increased drag coefficient (by as much as .0001), so keep your car clean.
BTW, a good wax job will also decrease aerodynamic drag.

It's a known problem. You should be able to fix this with coding.

Correlation does not = causation. Probably another variable you're not taking into consideration. One thing I've noticed affecting performance for me is the heat. It definitely slows the car down a bit.

Soap and water with a high quality wheel brush usually. Sonax every other wash. I wouldn't use anything else.
