Wish that he would’ve compared the driving dynamics between the M340i and M440i but overall very tame for a Carwow review

Sounds similar to Joe Achilles' review, in that the 2 biggest knocks are (1) it's not a 340i, and (2) it's not a 440i coupe. I generally enjoy both of these reviewers but with the 440i gc I feel like they are mostly questioning its very existence.

Honestly, I think CarWow and Joe sound about the same because they aren't living with the car, experiencing one of its best features. They are just on relatively short test drives.

I have a 2019 440GC and it is a GREAT car to live with. I don't want an SUV or a wagon (sorry, Estate for the Brits in the crowd), but having the large hatch and still having great looks is my favorite part of the car, save for the motor.

Now I'm not getting a new GC to replace my current one, I'm going CV, but I just don't need the extra flexibility anymore. If I did, I would certainly think hard about the G26.

Man? Mat sh*t the bed on that review. Lol Dude seemed bored (usually he's excellent). Too bad, a fantastic vehicle which I just ordered this week in Sapphire Black with the 20" rims and Cognac interior. They call it the "Launch Edition." Which means no negotiation on price. Sigh…

Hmmm. A coupe that's not a coupe. An M car that's not really an M. Yawn.

I mean, keep in mind most of us here aren't really the target audience for these videos. The target audience is someone who maybe sees one, starts cross shopping, and googles "BMW gran coupe review" or something.

Personally I think the i4 is going to be a great competitor to the Tesla model S, and the M440 GC will be for the people who want an M340 with a bit more practical trunk/boot space but don't have a wagon option.

Most reviewers seem to be a bit out of touch with practical day to day use for a whole segment of customers - those of us who actually use the car to DO STUFF.

The 3 series saloon is useless to me ... how do I throw my bikes in the boot? How do I load the kids university stuff (PCs with 32" monitors) for multiple trips per year? How do I get bulky junk to the recycling centre?

The touring is more practical but ... its styling just isn't for me.

I'm currently on my 3rd X3 but when I went to order a 4th there was just too much compromise on deletions, wait times etc

Step up the 4GC! Perfect for my needs, got all the options I wanted and available on a great PCP deal. Ordered 13 November and yesterday I went to see it in the dealer's lot waiting for PDI. 6 weeks from order to delivery.

wish there were better wheels choices, those look weak and the 20" individuals don't look sporty enough

I agree. I wish the 861 19" were 20's. Those are nice rims. I ordered the "Launch Edition" and had to take the 20" er's. They're a bit too formal for my liking but will look good on black or Tanzanite Blue. I switched my order from black to TB to change things up.

This is close to my thinking.

The major difference: I do like wagons, and I do have a 3 series wagon. But what if it were stolen or totaled tomorrow? BMW no longer sells it in the U.S. I could buy used. But what if I wanted a new car?

I can buy a competitor, right? Audi? They're raised wagons, or the unaffordable and unobtanium RS6. Volkswagen? Wagons are discontinued. (Arteon is a perhaps. Golf R is awesome but not a true wagon.) Mercedes? It's a raised wagon, or an AMG. Volvo? It too has discontinued its non- lifted wagons, other than the Polestar. Et tu, Brute?

This is the closest I can come, without getting an SUV. (Or I could buy the A5/S5/RS5. Or Genesis.)

I just wish it were tow rated in the U.S. (Ditto my current car, for that matter.)

Agreed on all points made above. The practicality and functional use of the trunk space is what sold me. I went to dealership looking to purchase a m340 but walked out with a 2022 m440 GC. I coach my son's baseball team and can fit all of our gear with no problem. I would be more interested in a long term review.

I checked out a new 4 series gc the other day. IMO its a step back from the F36 styling wise, but that aside my biggest complaint is they gave it a bigger sunroof which reduced the rear seat headroom even more. Anyone over 5'9 cant sit in the back. Im 5 11 and even slouching in the seat my head was touching the headliner with my head tilted to the side.

The headroom is an issue for some but how you're proportioned will make a big difference. I'm 5'11" and had no problem with the clearance. I think I had about an inch to spare.

We checked it out to see if we'd be ok with headroom and learned that we couldn't live with the rear visibility. I plan to keep a vehicle for a while and am 52 now, so figure I'll want something a little easier to drive. The storage space in back is great however. That would have been a good tiebreaker.

Agree. I'm 5'10" but I've only got stumpy little 30" legs and quite a long torso. I've a good couple of inches clearance to the roof. When I sat in the back of mine yesterday I was surprised how much space there was given all the YouTube reviews, most significantly leg room from my knee to the driver's seat. Then again, with short legs I guess I have the seat further forward than most.

I was also a bit non-plussed about a couple of reviews complaining about the location of the C pillar. Doesn't start to obscure my visibility unless I turn my head though a good 45 degrees or so.

Having said that, I wouldn't fancy doing a drive longer than an hour or two in the rear because the seat is rather bench like.

Re visibility, it's also worth noting that all 3 rear headrests fold through 90 degrees which helps a bit with rear visibility but I agree it's still not fantastic.
