PR material highlights things....can't include all specifications...I just ordered it for the tires but appreciated everything else that came with it....

Those are not minor things. To me, they are selling points of this package.

In general they do a poor job of explaining what is actually in each package , which is very strange. For example getting the adaptive lights with shadowline or digital key with wireless charger.

It's strange they don't clarify and explicitly state what each package actually gives you, especially when that would probably help them sell more of the packages.

Once again....marketing materials need to be short and concise.....if you need all of the information, check the vehicle specifications or ordering documents...

But....the point of this post is to applaud the package for those that might be interested....there are no negatives as far as I am concerned...

I wasn't saying anything negative about the package. I ordered it!
I just found it odd that it's not even mentioned in the dealers comprehensive pricing schedule. That's all.

Seems odd that they don't state the brakes because A) they don't allow you to buy the spare that you can without this package. b) 18" wheels do not fit as per BMW but do for those with out the package. Fan is stated in the package as more powerful if I'm not mistaken.

EDIT
Found this

But, that link is not from BMW. Again, you'd expect BMW to mention it somewhere and as far as I can tell, they don't.

Dudley.....no disrespect but...I understood what you stated in your first post....there really is no need to keep repeating the same information when someone' offers insight to your questions...I'm done.

The OP of the thread literally says they didn't know what was included. BMW does a poor job advertising the contents of the packages. You shouldn't need to dive deep to figure out what is included and other manufacturers simply do not do this.

Respectfully disagree....please review my prior posts regarding content of marketing materials versus specifications and ordering guides....I'm done again..

No, I appreciate the help. Thank you. It doesn’t bother me that the guy above got ticked off with me. I’m okay with my decision of ordering the package. I bought it for the cooling (not that I track) and the fantastic tires which I thought would be great down here in Florida. It’s just confusing for me on the different information concerning this package. A lot of it not currently confirmed by BMW. That’s all.
Have a nice day.

Man, the oil cooler protection, or lack thereof, has caused me to really go down the rabbit hole this evening. To the people that actually bought this, do you regret it? Is the issue actually overblown? I selected this option mainly for the tires and looks and I wanted m suspension. I am a bit concerned now though TBH.

I believe it’s a bit overblown and I don’t regret getting it😃
I live in Las Vegas so I was mainly interested in the extra cooling and tires. The bigger front brakes were gravy!
You just have to be more aware of the front of your car with parking berms…the sensors don’t always pick them up…
Someone will eventually make a functional gaurd for the front oil cooler or I plan on making one out of expanded metal or something.
I didn’t quite like the feel of the brakes so I added stainless steel brake lines and now they rock!
Come 110 degree summer days and I still should be able to drive the way I want and not worry about things! Plus my wife drives the car occasionally and now says she might be interested in doing some HPDE

Thanks for the insight. How do the high performance wheels do with daily driving? Still pretty comfy or stiff?

Garage List
I haven't read through the thread completely, but my understanding is the actual piston size isn't any larger, but the caliper body and rotor are bigger to increase heat capacity. Am I thinking correctly about that? I've debated adding the 374mm or 395mm but I'm unsure if it's worth it myself.

I was expecting a harsh ride but was very pleased how comfortable it is.
I'm in Naples, FL and no longer in the NY/NJ area with the lousy roads.
Obviously, that helps.
I only have had the car since Dec 14th and currently have 1400 miles on it.
I am really enjoying it.

Interesting. Are you suggesting that the only way to get the tires and M suspension is by ordering the car with this feature? I’m just curious and won’t be surprised if BMW has made these kinds of changes. That wasn’t the case when I ordered mine pre-LCI.

In any case if you prefer the looks I’d go for it at the expense of peace of mind. Folks who have it claim it’s overblown — which is a reasonable bias. But then when it happens to you it’s no longer an overblown issue. I’m not trying to discourage you from getting it; just know what you’re getting into and be happy with your decision.

The other thing that keeps coming up is heat soaks. I drove mine during the peak of CoVID at Palm Springs — where temperatures go up as high as 110 - 120. Zero issues. Haven’t seen/read of anecdotal accounts questioning the cooling system on these engines. At least in my experience it’s been a non-issue. But then again if you’re getting this purely for aesthetics I can understand.

Based on the configurator, the only way to get those wheels and tires was with the high performance package. I believe m suspension you can get regardless.

If there’s actually a way to get those wheels and non run flat tires without the cooling package, I might consider it.

Oh okay. That’s good to know. I haven’t looked at the configurator in a while.

Edit: if you’re leasing it probably might not be that big of a deal as opposed to owning.

BMW makes it really hard for people like me that reconsider every selection they made. Sometimes I really favor the m double spoke wheels, but then when I look at the y spoke wheels they seem to fill in the area a little bit more. However, if I go with y spoke then there’s no option for performance non run flats. What a mess lol.

it's very overblown, the cooler is tucked up behind the bumper you'd have to get very unlucky for something big enough to damage it actually managing to get up to it
