Looks modern and has presence. Current BMWs just became outdated.

Surely this can't help the aerodynamics.

Yeah, so far that front really looks like a cross between a Giulia and a Beaver.

The car has presence from the front, from the leaks I’m more concerned that the rear isn’t up to the same level and has a bit of cheap Subaru BRZ vibe. I think JTO24 mentioned similar concerns..

Not flat? Are we looking at same front grille?

It looks like the iconic BMW kidney grille was pancaked.

To think there are folks out there who want (virtually begging) BMW to do something different and bold. Reading this forum, you'd think we should keep with 1990's designs.

BMW can never win, where forum opinion is concerned.

Nope they can't.

Forum: BMW designs are getting boring - they're becoming like Audi, all look the same. They need to change.

(*New 4er Concept*)

Forum: WTF BMW?! Why couldn't you stick to the same design you've been using for 20+ years? I'm going to Porsche!

You point is very well taken.

I realize I'm a Porsche guy on a BMW forum, but I'm more than just a Porsche guy, I'm a sport car enthusiast who also really appreciates BMW offerings. . .

that said, Porsche does evolution better than anyone. They stay true to iconic designs and lines, focusing on performance with subtle aesthetic change.

I think it's pretty clear BMW enthusiasts are not impressed with some forthcoming BMW design decisions, but I'm also certain the M3/4 performance will be improved and welcomed over prior iterations.

i used to be against these grilles, but after concept, i hold on my opinion.. i think, this can actually be nice when seen revealed, and even in person..

i remember when 1series was revealed, i hated those grilles and headlights, but after seing one in person.. i flipped my opinion 180°, so as with x5 g05, and 7series lci MY2020...

so, just wait until su saw it in person, renders, spy, and even official pictires is one side of story,... live is second side

But is it hideous? Striking differences to what we are used to, yes.

Once we've seen it for real, on the road and/or we've stood and walked around one, I'll accept such serious criticism as "hideous", but not on poor 'half' pictures and photoshop images.

Many venomously criticised the G20 design, based on the first images and leaked pictures. Even continued to do so on the first release pictures. Many have changed opinion, once seeing it in the metal. I don't particularly like everything about the G20/21, but as a package, it has a lot going for it.

I'll reserve my judgement, even on the grilles, until I actually get close to the new 4-series. Let the eyes get a 3D viewing.

I think it's easier for Porsche to do what they do because they're not pressured and not exposed to the same criticisms that BMW, Mercedes and even Audi are exposed to. If the latter aren't constantly adapting/changing, buyers are willing to switch to something else. With Porsche, there is no real substitute - you want the quintessential sports car? Porsche is the one and only.

As for my earlier post, your post pretty much agrees with what I'm saying. No one complains about Porsche designs. I don't think I've ever heard any buyer say they think Porsche needs to switch it up a bit. Can't say the same about the other German brands. It's why Mercedes drastically overhauled their design, it's why BMW is starting to do the same and it's only a matter of time before Audi follows suit.

How long do you think before they admit their mistake and go back to a more conservative design?
