Not even a mother would love this child. The m3 is going to look like a bloated version of this. I don’t understand the logic that people automatically hate on the prior generation - why? Because your car becomes “old”? If you could afford a f30/f80 you can certainly afford a g80 and should be happy for a remodel. That’s like saying people hate on the old iPhone when the new one comes out.

Aesthetically, this is simply a set back and while they aggressively went for an “evolution” of the brand, it clearly strayed too far.

I have an 18 f80 and am 2nd on the wait list for a g80 right when my lease expires- if the g80 looks like a bloated version of this, I’ll be keeping my ride and buying it out and hanging onto what will likely become a pursued generation because the new one looks so poor.

If you’re into this or just have to have the newest thing- more power to you!
I had my E92 for 10 years, so trust me, no need to upgrade. My point is that, people always hate on the latest, including your turbo F80.

Where in the happy fuck is the Hofmeister kink? The best thing about it was that it made the back look slightly reclined (for lack of a better term) and this allowed the car to look like it was moving—even when standing still! Remember the old Maxell cassette ad?

I'm not in love with the grill, but I honestly thought it would look worse. It's alright.

You're right Scott, the first thing that comes to mind when the words BMW and ICON are brought up is ........ 4 series?

Everyone can vote with their pocketbooks, and if BMW weren't so horribly subsidizing leases I think figures would speak for me here when compared to volume for the direct competition.

I cannot speak for anyone. I'm a BMW loyalist, 3 since mid '15; a reliably returning customer any brand wouldn't want to take for granted.

If the g80 wears this snout it's not getting a buck from me, no matter how much the PR dept tries to force down our throats that this is somehow unique or iconic.

And dollars speak right, that's why we have an auto box, and no bespoke motors any longer. we in the buying sphere need to really ask ourselves if you could look at that face every day and part with, in M spec trim, at least 75,000 buckaroos.

Patiently awaiting the G80 LCI, will stay tuned!

If the M car has the horizontal slats of the leak, I can see it easily being confused for an audi.

This is correct. I can't imagine turning on the garage light and seeing this ugly grille mess stare back at me. Regret and remorse will follow. The car is huge as well, nearly 4000 pounds.

I want to see it on the flesh.

I'm surprised at the shock. It's exactly what we've seen in photos, on transport trucks, etc. for months.

Agree, although the C Class is this car's main competitor. E-Class is equivalent to the former 6-series.

Current gen 4-series coupe owner - Everything is great, except for that grill. It looks out of place, like it doesn't even belong. It's the car equivalent of a super hot chick with a giant, crooked nose with a wart on it. Who knows, maybe I will like it it 10 years but I doubt it. I wasn't planning on getting a new 4 series but definitely won't be buying that.

I think Mercedes and Audi's design teams just breathe a sigh of relief. It won't take much if anything to design a car that looks more elegant than that. Shoot, they can keep their current body styles and it'll still look better than that with two lifecycles.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, though. This thing will sell like hotcakes simply because of the fact that it doesn't look like anything else on the road.
