I just leased a 2021 330i xdrive coming from a leased 2019 X5 and every time I get in I have to manually put the auto hi beams on. The X5 they just stayed on unless I shut them off. Would appreciate any help ty.

On our 4 GC I had to do the same, the auto high beams had to be put on every time I started the car and it was just enough of an irritation that I just forgot about it completely and ended up dipping manually (don't do that many dark miles) so we didn't even bother speccing it on the incoming G20 330i.

I'm intrigued as to whether it was me that was the idiot all along now and it was a setting I missed 😂

I’m spoiled having it stay on all the time in the X5. Thank You for responding I now know I have to turn it on every time I need it.

I have a G20 and my auto highbeam setting remains engaged unless I manually turn it off. So it may be a software glitch you're experiencing. I'm running 07/2020.54. What version do you have?

I leased the car last Thursday and yesterday I did the OTA 07/2020.54.

I'm on 3/2020 and my auto highbeams come on and off automatically and I don't have to turn them on or off anytime I get in the car. I have the laser lights, so not sure if that's the reason for this.

It's likely just a software bug, I'm not experiencing it...but it will hopefully resolve with the next update. That behavior is not normal. The system should remain on unless you choose to turn it off.

I believe the laser lights/executive package are a prerequisite for the auto high beams.

I restarted the idrive but it’s daylight so can’t test it now and I’m not sure the idrive has anything to do with the hi beams either...

Nope, I don't have the laser lights and I still have the auto high beams. This may be something for 2021 models though.

They also stay on unless I switch them off manually.

There is a bug in iDrive, evidently introduced in 03/2020.xx where every so often the auto high beam will be disengaged. This is happening to the X5s and appears to be in all models using an iDrive version of 03/2020.xx and newer. I first got it when I upgraded to 07/2020.24 and was hoping the OTA to 07/2020.54 would fix it but I still have the problem.

Hey TurtleBoy got rid of my 2019 X5 Msport 11 months early and got a 2021 bare bones almost 330i. Handles like a BMW but missing all the bells and whistles. Thanks for responding I’ll know more in the dark if the idrive restart did anything.

Hello. I, and others, never had to restart iDrive in order for it to come back we just needed to hit the button. It sounds like your problem may be a little different but hopefully a reboot fixes it.

I'm still loving my X5 and plan on getting an M50i next year when my lease is up. I'm going to be getting an M340i for my wife but of course it will be for me. She doesn't drive so my excuse is to get her a car so she can go out and drive once and awhile. She wasn't on board with the idea until last week when I brought one home and she got behind the wheel. After we got back she was making coffee and said that it drove beautifully but we don't need anything that fancy for her to drove once and awhile. I told her noone needs a car like the M340i, it s just a matter of wanting to treat oneself. She's pretty gungho now and has been looking at the different wheel and trim options. I'm building an workshop for my woodworking to free up the garage space so once that is complete can get one ordered.

I drove to the mall and used the parking garage to test the auto high beams and they came on so I drove back out into the light to have them turn off and went back in again and they turned back on. I’m going to test it again at home in a couple of hours so for now the idrive restart may have worked

Btw in good lighting that "auto" icon won't show up on the dash.
