Delayed shipment from Germany for 2021 M340i
I ordered a fully loaded M340i in July. It's Tanzanite Blue, which apparently can only come from Germany (???).
The dealer assured me that it would be delivered in September (I am in Ontario). Then i was assured it would arrive in October, and then November. Now I am being told December 10th. I have seen a screen cap that shows that it was built on August 21. Has anyone else experienced this sort of nonsense?? What should the dealer be offering me for my pain and suffering?? |

If it's any consolation, I'm based in Spain, ordered my M340i in July and it only arrived in Spain this week. I should have it by end of next week.
I was told to expect a December delivery from the beginning. The car was built on Nov 6. Are you sure yours was built in Aug? Do you have the VIN? Maybe your dealer overpromised?? |

I'm less interested in the VIN than I am in the date 21 August 2020. Again, my dealer has agreed that the car was built that day.

I’m thinking 21 August may be the date the order was officially accepted into BMW’s production system. Check www.mdecoder.com or www.bimmer.work

If August 21 was the status 150 date it will usually take another 4-6 weeks until production (but Individual colors can prolong that). Then it will take about 6-8 more weeks on ship until it is deliverd to you in the US.
Add the Corona delay on top and I'd say you can expect a late December or January delivery for your car. Ordering an Individual paint car in July and expecting delivery in September is just not possible at all, even with normal conditions... Your dealer flat out lied to you, probably they were in need of sales. Talk to him, maybe you can get a free loaner car until your M340i arrives. |

Thanks for your help with this. mdecoder is showing the production date as 19 October 2020.
The sales guy that I have been dealing with has been saying pretty much whatever pops into his head at the moment, with no regard for truth or accuracy. It has been a thoroughly frustrating experience. Is there any way to tell in advance whether I am going to end up with the mild hybrid or not? I'm hoping not, but at this stage, I just want the bloody car. |

Quickest way to check if it's a mild hybrid is to look for the Auto start-stop button next to the gear leaver. If it has one you don't have MH, if you don't have the button it is a MH.
BTW, I'm curious why you don't want to get the MH version? Apart from the ASS button missing (and you ideally want to keep that turned on for the MH to actually have an effect), I don't see any downsides. |
