The proportions appear to be just right. I think it's going to be a looker!

Surprisingly MB recently admitted that they made a mistake in expanding their lineup with cars such as the GLA, GLB, A, CLA, etc. While they admitted that the cars are a success, they did note that it does dilute brand image and provides less focus on higher profit margins from more luxury oriented and priced cars.

https://www.motor1.com/news/447830/m...expansion/amp/

That being said, watch them still release another compact crossover that no one asked for.
Unless I missed this, MB does not admit in this article that the compact line up is diluting their brand image. They only confirm that the line up it's a bit extensive.
Oh I might have read that in a different article. Either way they do mention that they don't want to be a competitor with mainstream brands and want to focus on luxury cars. While it may not be said directly, it's definitely inferred.

The bottom part is covered in camouflage, you can you tell? I'd be quite surprised if the grills will be different to the G22.

I actually laughed when I saw that they covered up the ugly huge grills during the test drives. Freudian slip?

Call me crazy but I think somehow the beaver teeth work better on a 4 door body. The new M3 somehow looks much sharper to me than the M4...maybe the extra length helps offset the enormous size of the grill? Or maybe BMW has me under their thumb

The f36 4gc apparently sold well enough that they brought it back in the g20 chassis. There are several other models that are being discontinued after their first run.

I never understood why people get critical about an auto maker producing more models. If successful, it broadens existing markets, or potentially even creates new markets (making a product people didn't know they wanted). In the case of the 4gc, bmw wasn't the first to market with a 4 door coupe (I think it was MB), but if it's a product concept that sells, why wouldn't they get in on some market share?
Why not bring the station wagon then?

G26 440i GC looks very promising. Curious what winter tires are being used during cold weather testing.

As long as they fix the fugly kidney grilles on the newest 4 coupe it'll be an UPGRADE. If not, I'll continue looking at other brands in this segment.

I am seeing M mirrors on this car... Is bmw screwing with us?
Or are we going to see M mirrors filtered down to the M performance models for 2022??

M just means M, performance models want the sexy style mirrors too
Don't worry they'll probably still give ya the round fuel cap

Adding 2 additional doors somehow helps this design. I thought the F36 was better looking than the F32. This makes me very excited for the i4. Everyone thinks the grille is the biggest issue, but I think it's the bumper design that makes the grille a lot worse than it is. Playing around with photoshop on the 4er and M3/M4, if you changed a few things about the bumper, design improves a lot.

Still baffled as to why you guys say they got rid of the kink. They reinterpreted it. The original kink design is great, but I dont feel thats one of the things BMW needs to keep. Would rather they keep manual transmissions forever, or at least in M and Z cars.

Also the kink is everywhere. HVAC vents, dashboard, headlights, indoor reading lights are all shaped like Hofmeister kink.

Totally agree...I've tried this: Straight bumper surrounds and a one row smaller grill (it changes the proportion and makes it much better imho)

Good to see those vents are functional and will be used to push snow/slush/ice right into the perfect candidate areas for corrosion.

What will these designers think of next.
