Ordered my G20 Sedan July this year (Company car).
Dealer informed me at that moment all G20 Sedans where build in Mexico, and that for the Dutch market the build slots would open from January '23 onwards, other markets seem to have priority. My delivery date now is beginning of April, my previous BMW's also took around 14 weeks from ordering. I will post an update when I have confirmation the build is in progress. |

I ordered my G20 sedan in December 2021. Production date - mid-September 2022, the Mexican plant. And now the best part - according to my dealership it's still not yet in Europe. The last update in the system is from November though.

swmd: HOLY CRAP... that's bad and not BMW like. But there is nothing you can do. What engine and is it a lease car of private..?
Djoest: also a stretch.. The only good thing is that it's worth waiting for!!

It seems that production dates of Touring models are pushed to August to allow EV’s to come forward…
My colleague told me indeed ETA on his i4 was now March versus Sept initially (!). I do have a production code already and the status is code 111 - which according to the attached planning sheet should be reasonably good news… Any experiences so far?

My M340i is being manufactured this week according to the dealer I also received the vin number but unfortunately they got a slot in Mexico factory. So I'm not sure how long will it take to arrive in Europe .
Hopefully it won't take long |

My car was built at the end of November 2022 and now waiting for a ship from Mexico. I wouldn’t expect to see yours for another 3 months …..

It is incredibly annoying how passive BMW is with sharing info. In the US there is a tracking tool available. Not in EU.
It’s not that you are buying a roll of toiletpaper.. This should be a festivity from beginning to end. Poor consumer experience.

I just received an email from my dealer with the VIN for my G20 320e which I ordered in August 2022.
Checking it on a VIN decoder website (bimmer.work) and it says the car is produced in Mexico, instead of Munich which the dealer told me I thought European cars were always made in Germany? Does anyone know this? |

It's a lease car and dealer said last week the car is in status 165 (production finished and in transit soon) I asked for the VIN because I can't wait...and now I know it's build in Mexico it will probably take longer to arrive in NL |

Once the production has finished and its almost in transit it should not take longer than 4-5 weeks.
But that’s all before COVID / Ukraine and now there is capacity scarcity throughout the chain. So your can can be halted for weeks as there is no transport capacity, or you can be lucky and receive your car in a couple of weeks. Currently it’s just a lottery. I am just really annoyed there is no detailed tracker available!

It seems the manufacturing & shipping depends on several things:
1. Model (320, 330, M340) seems the most expensive vehicles have high priority 2. If the dealer had already production slots 3. If the car is leased or privately owned 4. The profit of the dealer |

Just got word from my dealer that my 320e is on-route to the dealer.
Bimmer.work (mdecoder.com doesn’t work) says it’s built in Mexico, but dealer just confirmed that it is build in Munich which counts even more for the e versions. (320e/330e)… so my confusion is now complete |

You might want to check this fact mate. I just looked up all my previous BMW’s and all VIN’s started with WBA. Even the two 1-series hatchbacks that are 100% not manufactured in MEX but DE. Those two cars were delivered within 12 weeks back then.
