Garage List
2017 BMW M3  [8.50]
2013 BMW M3  [10.00]
Slow Death by a 1000 cuts:
- larger yet again
- Lexus rear end
- AWD, RWD still an option?
- e parking brake
- above also effects caliper design
- digital dash
- torque converter automatic
- death of DCT
- 6MT in question but likely, confirmed
- shared engine platform
- more bundled option packages
- no ability to deselect options
- big, not functional grill design

Still holding out judgment till I see the final design in person but after purchasing two used E46Ms, a brand new a E92M and two brand new F80Ms, I honestly think my run is over. I don't think this will be a car I'd purchase. This new design and build package just simply doesn't grab me in the gut as a lust worthy car anymore.

The M3 appears to have gone from a fun, mid size performance oriented car to a large, fast, luxurious autobahn cruiser IMO and we don't have autobahns in the US.

The G80M3 is now an M5 more than ever. The 5 is now a full on 7 and the 7 is a land yacht on the scale of a circa 1974 Lincoln Town car.

Why would the rest of the car be the same and then they change the kidneys so much? It doesn't make sense. And I really, really hope this is not what it will look like. I thought they did such a good job with the new 3er. I was so excited for the M3. Please, god, don't let this be what it looks like.

Jesus, you guys really hate those grills, don't you? I actually think it looks better than I imagined when I heard that the kidneys will be that much bigger and lower. I hate the Civic style rear bumper more, while the lines of the front bumper are too busy. The rest (including the hood) looks quite nice.

And I'm pretty sure everything is going to be a bit less loud and agressive, which should be fine.

I just pulled into a dealer and parked next to what I thought was a Lexus at 1st. It's the new 330i.

Not kidding.

That is some sad as shit!

I agree as I'm looking at M2 CS as a budget 992 911 carrera S. Next M3/M4 looks too big.

Yeah sorry, I couldn't resist. I hope the new film is as good as the original!

You can only hope, but the previews are awesome so far. Too bad its only an F18 he's flying. Tomcat can come bag, hoping for some new planes in there too.

This thread really makes me look closer at how much priority I put in aesthetics when shopping a new vehicle. The fact is, while driving, the only aesthetic we see is pretty much the car's hood. Everything else is what others on the road are seeing. Do I really care what some random person on the road thinks of my car's aesthetics? Especially while dialed in to my own driving experience, not really. But I couldn't honestly shell out big money for a car that I think looks bad even if it drives great. I don't think this Radical render will be the G80 grille, but it's possible. Also I don't really like the rear of the G20 so I doubt that'll change with the G80 unless they change the Lexus looking tail lights. I still can't wait to drive the G80 though because performance wise it should be a blast.

I put my money on m3 not having a long and low grille. Look at their M vision next concept to understand what will be in m3.

You will be disappointed. There are spy pictures where you can make out the long vertical polygonal grille shape which looks very much like the grille on iVision Dynamics Concept plus double horizontal louvres. I have hoped for a grille more akin to 3.0 CSL Homage but it looks like this rendering is not very far from the real thing.

I don't mind the grille but those appendages, side openings, etc are ridiculous.

Also it worths mentioning that this is not the face of M3, it's the M4 whose face is used on the M3 as it has been the case with BMW during the last two iterations. So what we see here is the M4 face.

Interesting talking about cars becoming outdated, as there are some that somehow seem to retain their appeal.

I love the proportions of the E46 M3, coupe and touring. They still just look right.

My prediction is that the F80 M3 will end up the same way.

For European models there is a bar within the Kidney Grille which splits it but stillness keeps the outline of the kidney grille which contains the supports for the plate.
