I coded it yesterday and I had the DAYDRIVING_LIGHT_REAR option in bimmercode. It worked as stated before.

I have a UK G20 and have successfully coded my rear LEDS to be on with front DRL. I used Bimmercode on Android and all I had to do on mine was - BDC Expert Mode 3702LicFeatures Feature_4 - Activ No errors with mine. I am happy with the result, which was to enable rear lights on whenever front DRL is on. I searched for the DAYDRIVING _LIGHT_REAR in Bimmercode expert when connected to my car and could not find it. I didn't need this anyway, to achieve the result I was after. It would appear from other posts on this, that there may be a difference between cars coding dependant on country and whether you are using ESYS or Bimmercode to find these options. |

I coded both of these, and my rear DRLs are on all the time now. i tried turning them off in idrive (since that is now an option under settings>exterior lighting>rear DRL) but i don't think it actually turned it off when i tried to in idrive. Regardless, may stick with rear DRLs for a bit for now and decide if I like it.

So did I, and same problem, does anybody know what else to code in order to get the on/off feature of rear lights work properly, so that it is possible to turn on or off the rear lights seperatly from the front DRL. Thanks |

For my vehicle, unchecking "Daytime Driving Lights" in the iDrive turns off both front and rear DRLs. With "Daytime Driving Lights" checked, I can turn-off the rear DRLs by unchecking "Daytime Driving Lights, Rear" in the iDrive. Edit: I just re-read your post and the previous post and my advice may not be relevant if your rear DRLs are on with the light switch turned to off and "Daytime Driving Lights" enabled.

To answer your questions: 1) Yes, along with the other HU_MGU and BDC_BODY coding presented in this thread. 2) Yes, I do all of my own coding (and mods when possible). For clarity, below is what I coded to enable my vehicle to turn-off the rear DRLs only when the front DRLs are on. For my vehicle, this coding does not enable the rear DRLs to be turned-on when the front DRLs off. HU_MGU DAYDRIVING_LIGHT standard HU_MGU DAYDRIVING_LIGHT_REAR aktiv BDC_BODY 17BD OFF_IN_PWF_FAHREN_ERLAUBT ja BDC_BODY 5665 LIC_Feature_4 enable BDC_BODY 7083 ComAdapterPdu_0D1_Frontraumueberwchung_GWW_WWA aktiv Please note my Canadian vehicle has been retrofitted with Euro taillights and the headlights and tail lights have been coded for euro operation. Unfortunately it doesn’t work in my car EU version. I coded this thing but I couldn’t turn off rear drl when front drl are on. I could only turn on and turn off front and rear drl together in MGU |

Hi,
Well, as one of the earler contributors to this thread, I have a question. As I said, earlier in this thread, I offered that I coded in my car's HG_MGU, DAYDRIVING_LIGHT_REAR function to aktiv. Doing so, brought a check box in iDrive immediately below Daylight Running Lights. I checked this box & now I have front & rear DRL. Unchecking, however, doesn't seem to do anything-- the rear DRL (taillights) stay on. I, for one, would like to be able to turn on rear DRL when I think its needed. Reading through this thread, while quite informative, lost me somewhat. What other coding is needed so that rear DRL are activated when checkbox is checked & turned off when the box is clear?? Thanks As

The new iDrive update 07.2020 now makes this an option by default.
I have a check box to enable rear DRL or turn it off. And it works.

Does your car give you two check boxes then? One for front DRL and one for rear DRL. My G20 got the 07/2020 update and it turned on rear DRL, but I only have one check box which turns off front and rear together. I also was in a G05 earlier with the same update and it was the same way. Wondering if this is something specific for the US.

One check box. Turns on or off rear and front DRL together only. When on, a light box appears in the digital dash - same as side lights logo I think. No idea why you can't have one or the other - probably a legal thing somewhere. I only mention it because if you can turn both off, it must be possible to code one or the other. Maybe. And in case people think they have to risk coding to have rear DRL, you don't just need to persuade the dealer to update iDrive. Which might more difficult to be fair.
