Install New TPMS=PnP with Just iDrive Reset?

OK, my new set of Apex wheels will be arriving soon & I also purchased new 2nd set of TPMS from them so I don't have to dismount the original tires & swap over the sensors

In the past you could use sensors that were not BMW branded as long as they were correct frequency & simply reset thru iDrive

Seems I read somewhere on here where member stated that now on the new cars if you install physically new TPMS that they have to be BMW & there is a QR code that has to be scanned on the sensors then a BMW dealer has to reprogram the car based on that b4 you even get to the iDrive reset???

Is that tru, or is it still as it was with simple reset?

OK, I contacted Tom @ APEX and he confirmed that at least with the TPMS they sold me that their sensors don't need a QR code and simply pair via the iDrive

The sensors I ordered are used across multiple BMW G chassis including G8x M3/4s and the new supra as well as other G2Xs and haven't required QR scans or steps beyond the normal pairing process

So at least for me it looks as if I'm good to go with no BMW dealer visit

But it still doesn't answer the question with other TPMS that are out there...

I was going to message apex with the same question, so glad you got that clarified. That will make install easier.

On another note I got my wheels today, only had time to open 1 of them up, damn they are sexy!

Yes, install went fine & the TPMS synced/reset as per iDrive7 with no issues

The product name on my invoice was 'Huf BMW RDE-077' - 433Mhz, I'm thinking the P/N was 36-10-6-877-147, but not positive

Best to call or PM Tom @ Apex to make sure for your application
