Car is pulling gear longer and using more fuel

My 2019 G20 330 has, during the last 3 days, suddenly been acting a bit differently than usual. I drive the same stretch of road almost every other day and get about the same fuel consumption all the time but recently I noticed the car starting doing this:

* Waiting longer to upshift thereby running on higher revs than usual causing higher fuel consumption, this happens in both Comfort and Eco.

* Even when I manually shift to a higher gear the car seems to consume more even though the revs are low. (around 1000-1200 rpm).

The problem seems to be coming on and off also, I took it for a slightly longer trip earlier today and it seemed to be acting as usual for some time but when entering smaller roads with more start/stop it definitely pulls the revs higher before shifting, acting almost like in sports mode when in comfort or eco.

What could the cause be?

Probably needs an ECU reset. Is there a trusted mechanic you can take the car to that won't rake you over the coals?

I’ve noticed this too on my 2019 but didn’t really think twice about it.

Try a bottle of techron fuel system cleaner to see if that helps.

Thx for the replies!

I took the car out early this morning, during this trip it behaved normally. I also took the opportunity to do a few pulls in sport mode since it's been driving at low rpms all winter.

Weird when things like this happen and are not possible to reproduce consequently. I'll update if anything interesting happens.

The transnission learns your driving behaviour and its just used to toddling along all winter. A good "Italian tune up" is all that was required as you found out. It will be fine now.
