Tyre Widths

Hi,

Has anyone tried a 235 profile tyre on the front of there standard staggered 225/255 msport set up.

Always thought the front tyres look a bit 'skinny' compared to the 255 rears...

Are you 2wd or 4wd?

With 2wd I doubt you'd have an issue, should be plenty of clearance between suspension and bodywork and I'm sure the wheels will take it.

With 4wd you'd be asking for trouble due to the increase in rolling radius unless you match it with a similar change at the rear.

2wd - looks although there is plenty of clearance when on full lock both ways.

8J states its suitable for 225-235 ideally and 245 max.

You may have already used this website but if not it’s good for comparisons.

I take it you will also be going up one size on the rear, to keep DSC functions at optimum levels.

Changing the RC on one axle only, may change the DSC sensitivities and functions like EBV (Electronic Brake Proportioning).

Don't forget you'll lose some steering precision and slow the turn-in.

On the 2wd you just need to reset the TPMS and you won't lose anything on the DSC functions, it'll make necessary adjustments.
