Are Run Flats That Bad?
I personally feel that the run-flats on my 2020 330i are pretty decent compared to a few other run-flat tires I've had on my previous cars. It seems through the years they have improved ride quality, noise, etc.
Before buying the car I had already factored in the future cost of $700+ to immediately switch out the run-flats to a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S's but after almost 1,500 miles I see no need to get rid of the Continental ProContacts anytime soon. |

In CA you don't need to run All Season tires, summer tires would be fine.

This is true but I prefer All-Seasons if I'm buying a tire on a daily driver. California does get snow, ice, etc. in certain spots. On a weekend car summer tires would be great. All-seasons on a daily driver though.

Horrible, rears shot in less than 10k miles and tires are mediocre for performance driving and then there is the exorbitant cost. Never again will I get a car with them. Michelin's PS4S are superior in every metric by far and yet still almost 50% less.

That's a pretty common experience I've been hearing so far unfortunately. Hopefully the run flats will last way past 10k for me. I definitely am not going to pay the exuberant cost for replacement run-flats once the stock tires wear out.

For sure, they suck. Ride quality and roadnoise is terrible. Due the extra stiff sidewall, the road feed back into the chassis is like braille.

Poor Ride quality, more harshness and noise on the roads. If BMW's top cars like M3, M2, X3M, X5M don't have runflats why should you? Michelin Pilot Sport 4S on G20s best combo even on the Non-Performance models. Finally, you can always get a air inflator kit/purchase spare tire as backup in case.
As for snow and slush in winter, get a dedicated snow tires. |

Have had Bridgestone run-flats on my old 135i and they were horrible. Switched them out immediately. My G20 however has the Michelin PS4 run-flats(ZP) and it's a night and day difference in comparison to the bridgestones. These are much smoother and more compliant over bumps etc. Technology has obviously advanced significantly over the years.
