My favourite part was when he changed between lanes and commented how well balanced the car feels LOL - is that a new measure now? Changing lanes and pulling G's?

One of BMW's biggest swings and misses since the i3. And that's saying a lot with the existence of the 2GC.

He does that in most of his reviews.

Bit harsh on the i3, slightly ahead of it's time but it's a brilliant car and most owners love them, including me and our i3s.

Yup, i3s is an awesome car. Its still the quickest, and sportiest RWD compact hatchback EV you can buy in the U.S

My M340 is in the shop right now and they gave me a loaner 228i GC Xdrive. Wow is this thing terrible. I can't give it back soon enough

Seems like a good enough car but it failed on the market at the end of the day. I'd say the styling is what did it in.

They are gonna hand out 2GC loaners like candy now. It's like punishment for getting your car serviced. As if BMW maintenance costs wasn't punishing enough already.

Doug drives around the block and on a good day does a quick highway stint and talks about handling. It's a bizarre YouTube trend.

I've seen a few reviews of the M440i with consistent comments around how well balanced and composed the car is. With wheel spacers, lowered and blacked out exterior trim/grille I think it will look really good.

In Demuro's defense he doesn't go into too much detail concerning handling, balancing, etc. Keeps it simple, which is fine for what he does. He's actually one of the few reviewers I trust. Everybody else has stockholders to please, I'm assuming.

Some of us are long term holders of TSLA and used gains to buy a Porsche

Real talk, he is also based in San Diego in a highly population dense state with socal cops who won't hesitate to give you a ticket. Unfair to compare how hard he can push his review cars compared to say AutoNL on the autobahn but Demuro is one of the most detailed and thorough auto reviewers out there.

LOL I had basically the same experience.

The transversely mounted engine and detuned n20 isn't a combination for success.

I'm not a fan of the 2gc at all, but understand that it was built to capture 1st time bmw buyers. I've driven it and it's essentially a mini, not a bad car but more in the realm of Jetta's and civics. The maintenance is not painful because it's FREE.

As my SA so elegantly put it, the 2gc is the BMW for people that want the BMW badge.

I was shocked as to how it felt compared to say even an inline N20. It handles like a KIA given its FWD bias and has a huge American budget sedan aesthetic going for it.

As throttle house put it, its the only BMW i've driven I didn't like.

So I was at the dealership picking up a new to me 2018 540i CPO so had a chance to check out a full decked out 2GC and the sales guys comment was BMWs attempt at getting people into a car for $300 or less payment

Makes sense, I had no idea you could get them for that cheap. Seems like if you wanted to buy one, it could be had for low 30s, but still you could get a close to new f32 330i for that price and if you spend a bit more, a brand new g20 330i.

the car dilutes the brand image imo, but if there are sales then there is a market and reason to keep making it.
