Did they say that the C43 was more engaging, or did I imagine that?

Yes. That was the conclusion they made from their video from last year. They found it to be more fun due to the engine and exhaust, at the cost of a stiff ride however. Mainly felt more "hooligan" as they described it.

They need to stop calling the C43 amg lol. It has nothing in common with the AMG's.

Burrcold you sure change cars quickly man, congrats.

PS. I may get the G80 next lol ( Jstein55 don't judge me), it has grown on me. However, I still have until summer 2022 before the need will arise for the next ride so might change my mind by then.

Might be blasphemous to the forum but I would prob do the same. I loved that car since it's release. Audi "Audid" themselves on that model.
+1

On the short list to replace my F80. The updated model looks fantastic.

Never understood NA approach to model years. Our way makes much more sense.

C43 makes a really good noise. Considered a C43 Estate but put off by the 4WD crabbing issues. It's also getting a bit long in the tooth.

Seriously. I’ve drive both these cars at their limits, the Merc quite extensively actually. The C43 falls apart when pushed hard whereas the M340 excels with its balance and predictable nature. Sure the C43 makes a nice sound but no way is it more “engaging” to drive than the 3er. I expect better from these guys.

Hey at least the M340 is as fast as the E92. The C43 might even be slower than the old C55 AMG's. Plus here on the East Cost, guys are modding the crap out of those M340's.

I like the M340i but lets not act like the M in M340i stands for Motorsport and not actually ///Marketing. I say this as someone who owns a "fake AMG" and made sure to get the debadge option.

Also a C55 does 0-60 in 4.9 seconds. 0-60 is not what makes a car or badge, an X3 M40i wipes the floor with an E30 but that doesn't mean it deserves an M badge. None of these cars deserve to wear these badges, they should really only be reserved for their top models, but it sells. I'll say this, at least the font actually matches unlike those who just stick an aftermarket M badge in front of the numbers on their car.
Agreed! But yup, it really does sell!

I currently work at a Mercedes dealership, and the main reason why the C43 is a lot slower is due to the transmission. It's clunky, and shifts when it wants too. I don't know how people could daily that car.

Haha I can relate heavily to this. Told the wife I would try to keep the next one for at least 3 years so much temptation though...

Oh I know, that's what the Z4 was for That way she can't get mad when I go for a Giulia.

C43 understeers big time. M340I is so much more balanced.
Thomas doesn't like how over-boosted the steering feels on M340i, which I completely agree with. However in my opinion C43 isn't much better in that category.

I never mentioned 0-60. I meant overall faster. Not just from 0. From any speed.

Awesome, thanks for sharing VipinLJ! That M340i, I vaguely remember that launch model, interior looks much better than my initial impressions. Here's our post for it:

https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1697272

The speed over the C43 is pretty amazing but it brings to mind the various threads about the early cars being tuned with more power from factory. Was that ever debunked? And does anyone know if Mercedes actually measures HP from crank or from wheels? (I'm pretty sure we all know where BMW does it... )
