If you ignore the burbles and pops, there is actually a great exhaust note on this car. I think it's much better than the F80 M3 and the F30 335/340. I do agree there are too many burbles and pops though.

ASD is not disabled in MPPSK.

Basically this is the same setup - B58 plus MPPSK.
Yes I didn't hear any gun shots so it's quieter than mppsk. Will need more videos to show if it can do gun shots maybe drive it thru a tunnel and let off the throttle without upshifting. Sometimes I can't always get mine to do gun shots. So drive through a tunnel accelerate in 1st or second to near redline and let off the gas without up shifting. Press throttle past kick down point.

Hence why I said between stock 340 and mppsk...

I would gladly trade exhaust sound for your autobahn.

That's all we can do in america - rev it in our garage.
The rest is - crawling in traffic and 55 MPH in a 400 HP car
I would say crawl in traffic @20MPH but some still need 382HP on tap to do that

Agree. That's one of the reasons I never got the mppk on my old 340, just sounded a bit naff with too many pops and bangs.
Decent deeper rasp though and waaay better than a stock m3 if you ask me.

Having driven on the autobahn before I actually prefer being in the U.S. It's such a large geographical area to play around -- in my state speed limits of 75 or 80 are common. Also over here you can do battle with passive aggressive drivers

Tell me about it.. I hate that boisterous noise on every new BMW. It sounded cute when they started it on the Mini JCW but now it's becoming a nuisance.

I prefer sweet, sonorous exhaust drone of something like a E92 M3 or a first gen. Infiniti G35.. Not pops and burps that sounds like something is broken, on a brand new car.. Confusing the women..

Unfortunately, more and more manufacturers are coping BMW and making "pops and bangs" including it standard. Chevy is notable one..

So it's actually spreading, not dying..

"Almost" is the key word here.
Unfortunately I don't think they will ever sound so genuine again, due to OPF...

I was under the impression the M340i came stock with the MPE and that BMW won't make another system available... but I could be wrong.

First gen G35's/350Z's sounded WONDERFUL. Nissan/Infiniti got it so right in 2003/2004.

Shame that they put these ugly fake shapped exhaust plastic in the bumper.

Talk about a screamer. I think the engine note is great! It sounds Bavarian, even though it doesn't look Bavarian. I don't mind the exhaust overrun. It sounds fine and isn't too long. When overrun goes from a stock bubbling popping sound to modified fire cracker or gunshot sound is where it loses me. I personally like burble that resembles the sound of a coffee pot bubbling. Not too aggressive but noticeable. If overrun isn't your thing you can custom map and do a burble delete I'm sure in the near future for this car.
