Reading posts on brake upgrades, I am still confused on whether i would need to also upgrade the master cylinder on my 330i with the standard brakes to go to these.

I am unsure about that too sorry. Possibly look up your vehicle master cylinder vs 340i on RealOEM?

So the cylinder is not just when going to M-performance brakes? I didn't think BMW used a different master cylinder between the standard non m sport brakes and the one step up blue m sport brakes. Looking at real oem the cylinder appears to be the same until you get up to the M performance kit.

My apologies, I should have been a bit more specific. The master cylinder is not the issue, the brake booster is different and requires replacement.
