m340 hard acceleration shuddering
Hi folks I just got the car not long ago and I am still new to bmws. So I tried a full throttle hard acceleration today in sport plus on a wet road (raining), and the moment when I floored the gas pedal (torque and hp at max), I felt the rear wheels kinda shuddered a little. My car mechanical knowledge is limited so I don’t know what happened there. Was that traction control kicking in or what? I have all four ps4s.
Any advice is appreciated |

I get this when traction control kicks in.
If you are getting a shuddering, like the car is hesitating, under hard acceleration it is likely traction control. I am not sure where it displays in iDrive 7x, but you should see a traction control warning in the dash display. You can test this by making a run where it shudders, and then turn off traction control and try again. It you get wheelspin it was traction control. |

Just wheelspin if it's wet, more throttle and you will have less shudder. I thyink the shuddering is the tires finding small pieces of traction while spinning so give them enough torque to keep moving!

If you're RWD like me it's wheel hop. I also get it on wet roads under heavy acceleration. In dry conditions I've never had a problem.

What you are feeling is wheel hop. The wheel loses traction then gains traction and it causes the wheel to not only bounce but it will move backward and then forward as traction varies. Even a slight amount is noticeable.
I get it with xDrive as well. |

I bought my car with 19k miles on it and it has always done it so I assume it's normal for us that are rwd. It only happens when I accelerate enough to purposely try to break traction on wet roads. In dry conditions (before and after a bm3 stage 2 tune) I've never had even the slightest bit of wheel hop.

Nice to hear that it's not only us with rwd. Do you only experience it in wet conditions? |
