Bass cut out?
Hey everyone,
Anybody ever experience your bass frequencies cut out almost entirely? I shut down the car and started it up again and it was fine... I was listening through car play and no louder than 75% volume. I also have the HK system. |

Mine does this as well. Like the music just goes flat? It never lasts long for me...maybe 5 second or so and then cuts back to normal.
I have a service appointment tomorrow AM. Also going to press for the latest update. I'll report back if they have any solutions to offer and if I notice an improvement |

Yeah the music just went flat. It lasted about 5 minutes until I turned the car off then back on.
I just took it out for a quick 20 minutes to tweak on stereo settings. Everything is fine... or now. Yeah, let me know how it goes. Thanks! |

A little while ago someone else on this forum mentioned bass going out like this. Ended up being an amp that needed replaced.

So they just updated me to the newest software. I think 07/2020.xx. I was shooting for this since I wanted Android Auto. But it did not fix the issue. My music still goes out randomly and sounds flat - as if it goes into a bluetooth call mode where it takes the base out of everything.

Hello everyone. I'm from Brazil and i'm facing the same issue in my 330i. It seems a very old BMW's issue. I found in another thread, that there is an outlet just above the amp, wich sucks the hot air to help cooling the amp, but the ventilation needs to always be turned on in order for it to happen. Seems the problem is all about amp overheat and it shuts the bass off to protection.
I'm thinking in tab a 12v fan into the amps wiring and using the REM wire to turn the fan when the amp turn on, so it keep getting constantly air flow. |

I just removed the "basket" that covers the amplifier. Gonna drive tomorrow with a loud bass song and see if it stills get the "cut out" thing. If stills cutting i'm going to add a fan to make sure it's overheating or software/hardware issue!

I 3D printed a part to fix the fan and just for the tests i used a 12v battery. (If this test proves the "cut out" is result of overheating, i will tab it to the amp power wiring.)
The air flows directly to the amp keeping it to 110F in moderate/heavy load (75% volume). Just for register, today is 86F outside. Played some songs for 15 minutes (didn't have too much time to keep the tests) and for a while the results where good. No cuts while playing. As soon i leave the job i will stress the amp and see what we get. |

Got the car back yesterday. They updated my software and I hade codes for the remote start. Looks like they reprogrammed it.
They were unable to replicate the audio. However, with the update beore the one yesterday. I haven't had any issues in about a week... could have resolved itself through a software update I guess? |

https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1724795 But I havenīt visited the dealership yet. Hopefully next week. BTW I record the cracks with my mobile phone, because it will be better to show the record instead of waiting for "we were not be able to reproduce the issue". I did manage to capture it, but to be honest as the mobile phone uses all the noise cancelation features the sound got a bit flattened and the sound peak/crack is not that apparent. Anyway I logged to bmw connect portal and there is an option to ask for archive of "car data/telemtery". And after couple of hours I received a message the archive is ready to download and I found there some errors which might be related to the issue, who knows ... Is there anybody capable to decode the error messages/codes? Iīm pretty sure the technicians will do the logging, but it would be nice to know what are the error messages about. Another one here with exactly the same intermittent bass cut out issue.
This evening a slightly different issue where it sounded as if the amp had shut down. Volume was limited even with the volume turned to max in the car. Been into the dealer a couple of months back and unable to replicate and therefore no resolution on mine as of yet. |

Hi, bad news. Dealer tried to update first the software from 2020.54 (the latest OTA) to 2020.60, but it obviously didnīt solve the issue with amp. But they had to do it anyway and then report back to BMW. And we agreed to book car for amp exchange which should fix the issue as there should be a revised version of amp. In meanwhile I found the same conclusion at a German forum site. For those who can understand: https://www.g20-forum.de/index.php?t...blem/&pageNo=7

After I installed a fan in front of the amp, all the Cuts with "no turning back", gone. But sometimes the bass fails for 0.5 sec. Pretty sure the amp has a problem that gets worst with high temperatures. I really thinking in buying a Bimmer-Tech amp to replace this shity HK.
