Was taking 10 hours on a 3 pin when I was waiting for Covid lockdown to be relaxed and get the Rolec EV charge point installed. Now takes about 3 hours.

Can anybody help me?
Picked up my 330e yesterday - it’s taking 12 hours on 3 pin plug and less on wall box When I look at the car settings it’s saying it’s charging on 3 A - but goes up to 12. Anybody got any tips on how to reduce the 12 hours? |

I am still waiting for my 330e, delayed due to the recall, but I have downloaded the manual which says;
The charging current limit is set to the lowest level as standard. 1. "CAR" 2. "Plan charg./climate" 3. Tilt the Controller to the right. 4. "Settings" 5. "AC settings" 6. "Current limit" 7. Select the desired setting. The setting is saved. It also says you should get an electrician to check the plug for it’s maximum safe amp setting. Apologies if you have already tried this. |

I know the car comes set as 6a as standard however I'm seeing 10hr plus charge time like some others on here. Without paying for a Electrician to come out and inspect the socket I use. Can any recommend a safe setting to use which will help decrease charge time? |

Does anyone else's 330e keep defaulting back to 6a. Set to the Max 16a which charges at 10a via the 3pin cable however every so often it defaults back to 6a.
Normally takes 5hrs to charge at 10a so when I leave work I expect it to be fully charge, only to realise it's default back to 6a and it's only just over half charged, Very annoying!! I'm having to keep checking it's charging at 10a when I leave the car.. |

I bought a Tesla mobile charger cheap on ebay, which is similar to the "granny charger" supplied by BMW. Installed a commando socket in the garage. Now I can charge the 330e at a full 16amps and 3.7 KW. Three hours to charge.
The Tesla charger can go up to 7.2 KW if your wiring supports that. https://shop.tesla.com/en_gb/product...bile-connector https://shop.tesla.com/en_gb/product...ter---16a_32a- Bought the unit on ebay and the blue adapter from Tesla. Last edited by DougMcL; 12-05-2020 at 01:14 PM.. |

I just picked up my brand new car yesterday. 2021 330e. I thought it would fully charge in 5 hours.
Why is it taking so long to charge? It's plugged into a my regular house outlet and using the charger that came with the vehicle. Vehicle says it's pulling 10A....but taking way longer than 5 hours to charge. Any ideas? |

Reckon mine charges in about 5.5 hours from 0%. I'm on Octopus Go so try to charge during the night. Costs under a quid a night apparently (according to myBMW app) Therefore at the moment I'm struggling to see the benefit of installing a wall charger. Install costs seem ludicrous.

If you want it to charge in the 3 hours you have to use a 7.3KW ( or is it 7.2KW cant remember) wall mounted charger. If you are using 3 pin it will be 10 hours and if you use the charging device ( block thing) provided with the car it will still slow down a little and wont charge in 3 hours.
You need a wall mounted fast charging unit with the associated wired cable that is sold with them to achieve the quickest charging of around 3 hours. Below is my set up, it actually a 12KW charger but the max the 330e can use is 3.7KW. |

I have a 3KW solar powered inverter, any ideas on whether charging my 330 with this 3.6KW charger would overstress the inverter?
