Sunroof shade won't open

Hi, we purchased a 2019 330i yesterday and I can't seem to get the sunroof shade to close. I have pushed the button every way it goes and nothing happens to the shade. I also held the tilt button for 20 seconds but it did not open and close like I read it should, the tilt just went up and down after the 20 seconds.

Has anyone had the same problem or am I doing something wrong?

Apparently you’ll have to take it in to get the motor replaced (worst case scenario). Someone said they could close it if the kept clicking the close button forward instead of long pressing it. But others had to take it in to get it fixed.

Shame. Going to have a word with the GM. Thanks.

Had the same problem with mine. Took it to the dealership, motor failed to initialize. Ended up having to replace it under warranty.

I actually just took my car in for this exact same issue today. They tried to do a software update to see if it would fix but it didn't so they are replacing the motor for it tomorrow.

Is this a common issue or something? Also where is the motor for it located, hoping they don't have to take apart the headliner to do this.

Have had this car in the shop 5 times and I'm only 1yr into ownership... not too pleased, great car but too many minor issues keep arising.

Seems to be pretty common. Can you elaborate on the minor issues? Just wondering since I bought the car this week and am already taking it in for the sunroof next week.

Within the first few days I had to take it in for a creaking driver side mirror when it would fold in. Software issues with the iDrive. key fob wouldn't get recognized when in the vehicle. Now this. Can't remember if there was one other thing, I'll have to go look through the service notes, but you should be fine. Just a pain to go in for small issues.

Oh, those aren't too bad, just nuisances. Much better than my e60 it seems
