Has anyone seen the new pilot sport all season 4 in msport/M340 staggered 19 stock sizes? I figured this would be a no brainer as bmw carried over the tire size from the F3X models but I can't seem to find them.

Hopefully an oversight Michelin corrects soon?

It does not appear to come in the M340 staggered factory sizes.

https://www.michelinman.com/tires/hi...-season-4.html

I am looking to replace the summer runflats on my M440i when it arrives next week with an all season performance non-runflats. At this point I'm leaning toward the Goodyear Exhilarate which is a fairly new tire and has some good ratings, but I posted a request for info about them on here have not received much help.

I am more likely to put on a set of the "older" A/S 3+, but if they don't make factory bmw 19s by the time by car comes in I'm gonna shop around for sure

Yes, it seems that the A/S 4 does not come in the smaller 225/40x19 size used in the front of the staggered setup or all around in the square setup. I'd like to see this situation change, as I would prefer to use go flats rather than the factory supplied rfts.

On the other hand, the A/S 3+ does come in 225/40 and 255/35 for staggered setups, although some suppliers (Tire Rack) don't seem to carry the larger rear tire.

Looks like more AS4 sizes will be released in July 2021. I imagine our sizes will be included then

Not doubting your information, but how did you discover this? I might be tempted to hold onto my rfts longer if the A/S 4s are on the horizon.

The original launch presser for the A/S 4 calls out 50+ sizes at launch and another 40+ July 2021. (Original launch was July 2020 so its 1 year later)

My guess is this was an accidental oversight. there seems to be lots of remaining stock of 225/40/19 A/S 3+ (still available basically everywhere) which is the front/square setup size. So it makes sense to delay the A/S 4 in that size. But the rear 255 is out of stock (and now offered in a/s 4). somewhere in the changeover planning it was missed (or decided it wasn't a priority) that staggered bmw owners for both the f3X and G2x gen were being left out.

When I reached out to Michelin they basically said try to find A/S 3+

Thanks much. By not introducing the 225/40x19 at launch of the A/S 4, they have limited square or staggered G20 owners to seeking out the A/S 3+, which some retailers are now listing as no longer available in the 225/40 size. Maybe they'll move up the release???

Thanks much. I am a confirmed user of their A/S line of tires. Very happy with them on my current G37xS.

With temps dropping in the Midwest and light snow always a possibility, after researching the options, I decided on the Continental Extreme Contact DWS06 and ordered them this morning for my M440iX. I guess I’ll be the G22 tester for them

Interesting review of the Michelin A/S 4

For those of us that live in areas of the USA that get cold and sometimes snowy and don't wish to have two sets of wheels and tires, this sounds like a decent alternative once it becomes available in our needed size(s).

For anyone here who knows the Michelin A/S 4 well... I am in Greenville, SC. Maybe a couple of snows a year, rarely more than 2-3 inches, and they don't stick around for long. It almost never hits single digit (Farenheit) temps here. There is some black ice around at times but even the best winter tire would struggle on that. Gets in the 90's regularly in the summer. When my 2021 M340i comes to me in the beginning of March next year, I was thinking of getting Michelin Pilot 4S for the summer and Michelin A/S 4 for the winters here once they come around to fit the square OEM 18" wheels which I think are 225's(!)... unless you guys think the A/S 4 would perform admirably throughout the year in this kind of climate with little performance/comfort difference from the summer tires for a very spirited daily driver.

Looking for some help on my square setup.

Debating between the 3 below:

1. 245/35ZR AS3+ (non run flats)
2. 245/35ZR ZP AS4 (245 in AS4 is a run flat) 3. 235/35ZR AS4 (non run flats)

Any experience or suggestions out there?

Would a wider 245 AS3 be better than the 235 AS4? Or should one consider the 245 AS4 run flat instead? Hard one for me to decide.

An additional factor to consider in your decision is max. load rating. I think you will find the 235/35 has a lower rating than the stock 225/40 (if we are talking 19" sizes). Michelin posts the details on their website.

245 AS3+ is 93Y
245 AS4 run flat is 89Y
235 AS4 is 91Y

Is that a material difference?

Tire load index attached. I would not use a tire with a load rating less than that of the factory supplied tire. But that's just me.

That settles it then! Thanks man!

I have the Pirelli P7 Citurato - horrible tire. It's a 93 load index. AS3+ is the only tire with a 93.

Just so I learn, what's your perspective behind the load index to factory.

Thanks!

And you're right - tire rack also doesn't give me tire options for an M340 without min 93 load index. Thank you!!

I imagine the A/S 4 would do well for you. I am in Ohio and run a staggered set of A/S 3+ year around on my M340i. I am really happy with their performance. They definitely wouldn't compete with a Pilot Sport 4S on the track, but the A/S 3+ has been great for anything you can get into on the road. My car came with run flat summer tires on it and the A/S 3+ has handled just as well on the road as the summers that came on my car. Until Michelin comes out with the size needed to complete a staggered setup on the M340i your best bet is probably to look at reviews of the A/S 3+ on the M340i since it looks like the A/S 4 is an improvement to the A/S 3+.

So I just got a set of A/S 3+ for a good price since my OEM RFTs were at 5/32 and I thought I'd store them till the car was due to be returned. Problem is that I don't have a spare tyre or tools. No mobility kit either. What should I do? Get an air compressor? Or suck it up and buy a spare donut and tools and loose trunk space?

When I replace the RFTs that come on mine (probably with A/S 3+ or A/S 4s), I will buy a mobility kit for it and tools to plug a nail or screw puncture. I don't want to give up the space the spare tire takes up. The mobility kit is supplied with the Cooling and High Performance Tire Package, so it should be good enough for me.
