I'm not sure what they are thinking. Just leave the badge on that came with the car. Or de-badge to go for the 'clean look'.

I used to see a lot of M318i E46 models flying about... I always wondered who they were trying to fool/impress.

Conversely, I used to have a car (Renault Megane RS250) which came with Brembo brakes as stock (red callipers) and I always copped hate from randoms who assumed they were fake. It was a (bone stock) performance car but non car people didn't know that and assumed it was a modded hatchback.

All it taught me is that people don't have a clue about cars, even the ones that say they do. When my M340i arrives, I'm going to just laugh off and ignore any attention it gets. I'm more worried about negative attention when it's parked (keying etc).

Last night some guy in an Altima SV got excited and cut a bunch of people off just to get in front of me. He flashed his emergency lights at me and then took off going like 90 in a 50 while I just kept the speed limit lol.

He got caught at a red light a couple miles down, and just as I was pulling up he decided to change course (made a right turn, flipped an immediate u-turn and then made another right turn) to beat the red light and get back in front of me and flashed his lights AGAIN

The best part was (once again) I found him dead stopped at a red light a few miles later before my onramp, and lets just say that now we both know what each others emergency lights look like haha.

I've had my M340i for 6 months and have never had anyone try to race me. However, I tend to just ignore idiots on the road.

I think it depends on where you live. I'm also in the Bay Area and there's a ton of Street racing here as with Los Angeles and San Diego. People know the car and want to test it to see where they stand power wise. Lots of car smart people here.

I had some idiot on the freeway in a Civic SI trying to get me to race him . He was weaving in and out of traffic pulling up next to me keeping pace. I just waved him off. Then immediately after a guy in a GT3 did the same thing.

Many people have so little control in so many aspects of their lives. Working paycheck to paycheck, with no autonomy, family pressures or loneliness for lack of human connections, crushing debt, whatever. For them, the car is the singular place where they are the boss. It's their domain and their chance to show the rest of the world their prowess. I try to remind myself of this every time I encounter a jackass agro driver. Their compulsion to race has very little to do with me or my car. And not to go in a political direction, but here in Florida all of those jacked up truck drivers with Trump flags are feeling and acting more out of control than ever since their hero lost.

This happens to me all the time , I have a mineral grey metallic 330i m sport with full tints.. and idk but I think people see tints and want to race lol. I just drive normally or as normal as I can until I get tailgated lol

I had a CT4 V yesterday try to get cute with me before an exit ramp. I pulled 6 car lengths on him in 500 yards.

Funny as I wasn't toying around today and a new Jeep Wrangler passed me, and then proceeded to blow a tire. Hahaha.
