Exhaust sounds less aggressive to me after break in.
Took delivery of my m340 last month. The car has always made a gurgling sound in sport and sport plus under moderate acceleration after letting off the gas.
The first two weeks I would also sometimes hear a loud pop sound in sport plus sometimes when letting off the gas. I liked how aggressive it sounded for a stock exhaust. For some reason after reaching about 800 miles or 3 weeks the car will gurgle sometimes but will not make the pop sound from the exhaust anymore. Is it possible the exhaust is sounding less aggressive after the break in period ? The loud pop sound when letting off in 3 or 4 is no longer there ? |

The only difference between 2021 and 2020 is The mild hybrid system I would assume that would not require them to make new parts for the exhaust. First time I hear about that although I’m fairly new to Bmw about the 2020 sounding more aggressive

There are videos online. The 2020s were definitely more aggressive than the 2021. Hell my 2020 330i has more pops and bangs than a 2021 M340i.

just read one of the dozen threads here... bmw has changed the sound design in the dme. so, all 21 models have no longer pops and bangs... no burbles. that was done via software, no hardware changes.
some dudes were limited in the sound design afterwards via updates. older models before 21 have still the old sound and probable will keep them. it is all about emissions. just check the other threads |

After trying to get on the site with my old name unsuccessfully for two weeks, I have had time to read ALL the threads on this. It is what it is until some folks can break in and code some things which may take some time. I use mine as a DD so less of an issue for me, but if you want more pops you may have to find a 2020.
