My m340i was rear ended very badly yesterday :/
Just wanted to share so I could vent my misery a bit. Was stopped in the right lane of a two lane street as 2 cars ahead of me was turning right and yielding to people crossing.
As I was stopped waiting to proceed, a Cadillac Escalade was not paying attention and slammed into me going about 40mph. Impact was so hard it caused me to hit the car in front of me too. Front damage isnt as bad as the rear, however the active grille is completely shattered and not sure how much damage it did inside of the hood either. A sad day indeed... will be going to get my backed check this weekend. |

Yeah, I know the car should be fixed pretty easily, and of course the other drivers insurance will be paying for it, but it still sucks to see this happen to my car. And I really hope no major back pain develops because I was whiplashed pretty damn hard from the hit.

Sorry to see, but nice to know your car did its job and protected you from something worse. Hope for a speedy recovery to you and your m340i.

Glad you're alright! Accidents like that are always the most frustrating.
Let us know what ends up happening with your baby. Good looking car otherwise!

So first and foremost - glad you are okay and the car did its' job protecting you.
Now trying to make a little lemonade out of the lemons - if you were ever considering any aesthetic mods (front lip, side skirt extensions, rear diffuser, rear lip, cerium delete etc...) now is the time to do it. It'll give you something to look forward to when you get the car back |

That is a shame.
Not sure on how differently it's treated in the US but I'm sure that will be written off in the UK. No way the chassis is straight under that. |

Time to get it fixed by insurance and trade it in. The body shop will be taking a puller to pull the body back straight, like re-flattening a crinkled aluminum soda can, with plenty of Bondo to make the surface panels look smooth. Your car will also be marked in Carfax and have diminished value.
Very sad and sorry to see (but great news that you're ok). |

Well, get checked out by the doctor and really, that escalade could have killed someone that day, that is a grave mistake by him/her and I have absolutely no sympathy for such carelessness. Get EVERY cent out of it, in all aspects, rear ended by 40 mph 6000 lbs mega suv is extremely dangerous to begin with. |

You should hope they total it. I had a similar situation where I was stopped and someone doing 70mph rear ended me into the car in front of me (and them into the car in front of them). The car doors, sunroof, etc wouldnt close properly even though there was just some scratches/scuffs on the rear. Those are crumple zones and damage might be way worse than it looks in the photos.

Wanted to provide an update here.
The body shop sent me the estimate tonight and it came out to 11.5K. And of course this is using all OEM and new parts on anything needing to be replaced. Was wondering what everyone thought about this? Honestly, this is about what I expected. I will be calling the guy who did the estimate tomorrow to go over everything with him before I give any OK on beginning repairs on the car. Another thing I wanted to not here: This is a lease, so diminished value on the car is not as much of a concern to me as I will be trading it in after my lease is up. |

Sorry to hear of your dilemma, good to know you're ok and thankfully it's a lease. Please take it to a good shop, this isn't the time to chase a bargain.
