I am sorry, I am still stuck re-reading that someone slammed into you at 70mph and you only had "some scratches/scuffs on the rear"???
Makes no sense

Was wondering what everyone thought about this? Honestly, this is about what I expected.

I will be calling the guy who did the estimate tomorrow to go over everything with him before I give any OK on beginning repairs on the car.

Another thing I wanted to not here: This is a lease, so diminished value on the car is not as much of a concern to me as I will be trading it in after my lease is up.
First . . Glad you are ok and the car did its job.
Second . . This is precisely why I always lease. Four of my nine leased cars have been damaged, from a flash flood to minor rear end collision, and a parking lot hit and run. Never have I had to deal with selling a car with a bad CarFax report.

Front damage isnt as bad as the rear, however the active grille is completely shattered and not sure how much damage it did inside of the hood either.

A sad day indeed... will be going to get my backed check this weekend.

Well that stinks. That's a pretty heavy impact. I'd definitely want my neck checked carefully to be on the safe side.
I have the same color M340 and it is painful to see it like that. But it is just a car at the end of the day.
Cheers!

I agree with the other comments. It sucks and get yourself checked out.

Many years ago I was at the bottom of an exit ramp (steep downhill) from an interstate waiting for the light to change on the busy cross street when I looked in my rear view mirror and saw a car barreling down the ramp at me. Nothing I could do as I couldn't enter the intersection. Totalled the car; luckily I was okay.

OP, very sorry to hear of this happening to you. Solid hit. I had a similar hit from behind in my E90 that went to 8k from a Nissan Titan not realizing I was stopped at a light. Hope your back is OK, my wife didn't get checked out and had some lingering pain over the next few months but then it faded and didn't come back.

In my case, car was fixed good as new, had similar damage with mostly plastic bumper cover, a replaced taillight and a trunk replacement, all with OEM parts. Good luck and find a great BMW certified repair shop!

$11.5K is way low. Basically had the same thing happen to my X3 M40i. I was rear ended and pushed into car in front of me. Final bill was $27K using BMW parts.

Glad you are relatively ok.

Good that the other driver was insured......be prepared for a battle with your insurance company when your renewal premium comes through as they may well load it despite no blame or fault attaching to you.

OP - glad you were able to walk away. Also a bonus that its a lease. Ive been there before with sub total damage and being stuck with an owned car that has lost significant value and just doesnt ever feel quite right even after repairs.

My Question is why worry about the price when it isn't your fault? Make the other driver pay for the best repair? Plus some damages for not paying attention. Hire a very good lawyer too. Might get some compensation to upgrade for an M car.
