Bachelor Party Track Day

I'm hoping to source some ideas. I'm getting married later this summer and so for my bachelor party, I'd like to integrate a track day into the mix. And we will likely crash somewhere nearby for a few days. I've got about 8 buddies coming, none of whom are remotely experienced at track driving. I've been to about 10 HPDE events myself. I should mention I'm based in San Francisco but am open to traveling. The event itself will probably be in June/July. We will need to source cars for everyone and find track time with an organization friendly to newbies.

Curious if anyone has any ideas on how best to go about this? Are there any programs that are more turnkey but not super expensive driving school level? I'd say $1,000-$1,500 per person for the day would be the sweet spot but if anyone has more expensive ideas I'd still be interested to hear.

I would check with your local BMWCCA. The other choice is the M School in Thermal California.

Dan - South Carolina seems to have no M performance package days in 2022. I'm considering flying to Thermal to do it. Worth it?

I would do something like this. I have been to the grooms go-cart night a few times. At least you are tearing up someone else’s cars.

Never been to Thermal but the programs are supposed to be the same as South Carolina.

Porsche experience center LA. fun thing to do but a little pricey. Otherwise just do a track day at Laguna Seca or Sonoma. Check Sonoma's website I think do some XBow stuff? That would be fun!

What a fantastic idea. I would second the recommendations of PECLA or M-School. Those are better than the typical HPDE because the facilities are upscale, there’s amenities like food, and you’re driving new cars with highly experienced instructors. It’s just a more special experience, which I’d expect you want for your bachelor party. It’s also full turn-key and walk away.

But yeah, it’s pricey

For this... I would not limit yourself to BMW stuff. I would go with open wheel if I had a choice. It is always worth the price and the experience hardly even compares. Go to adrenaline.com they have true newbie stuff. It is not priced as well as Skip Barber or something more serious but for way less than $1k you can get enough track time to thrill everyone. See where the Mario Andretti Experience cars are. They will move around the country.

Thunderhill West (short course) can be rented for under 4k midweek. That is only about 2 hours from you.
https://thunderhill.com/

A bit further north you can hit Sierra Nevada Brewery taproom in Chico and a very horrible strip club.

If you let me and a few buddies turns some laps during your day we can instruct your friends for free

I doubt your boys would want to fly down to SoCal and go hang out in Thermal. Middle of nowhere 3 hrs from LA.

Vegas is a predictable Bachelors party spot, but they have that supercar experience thing right outside the Strip.

Porsche experience center is nice and basically in LA, but $$$

Maybe they have been to Vegas a million times and want something different? Vegas kind of sucks now anyways. It's not fun to wait 5 hours to wait to get into the club.

Palm Springs is a fun city and there is plenty to do there (including a casino) I think it's a great idea

I suppose it depends on what type of people OP and his crew are.

Scottsdale and Miami are other good spots but not sure if they'd have nearby track experiences.

At $1-1.5k per person I would look into the BMW M Track Day:

https://driving.bmwusa.com/mtrackdays

This is not to be confused with M School, this is more of a :fun:" day with some drag racing, skid pad, and lapping. It's less about getting into the dirty details of performance driving, and more about getting enough insight into pushing the cars a bit more than the average DMV licensed civilian. It's good for bachelor parties because there is a little bit of a competition, and of course, fast cars provided by BMW.

Hint for the drag race: Left foot brake to beat everyone off the line.

Disappointed that the OP never reported back w/pics of the track event, let alone the strippers.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! A track day for your bachelor party sounds like an epic idea.
To make the celebration even more memorable, why not incorporate some games for a bachelor party? They're a fantastic way to keep the energy high and create lasting memories with your buddies.
As for sourcing cars and track time, consider reaching out to local track organizations or driving schools. Look for programs that cater to beginners and offer a turnkey experience within your budget range. You might also explore options for group discounts or package deals to maximize your fun without breaking the bank.

Welcome to Bimmerpost. His wedding happened almost two years ago. Coming up on his second anniversary. It certainly would have been cool to be one of his friends invited to this!!

Can’t deny that is a possibility. A report on how it all worked out certainly would have been an enjoyable post to read.
