Wireless charger present but not working?
Hi all,
Have just picked up my UK 2022 M340i this afternoon. I was expecting the wireless charger to be deleted although on collection both myself and the dealer were surprised that the wireless charging tray was present, although nothing happens when I place my phone in it. To confirm this isn't just the NFC tray (I have comfort access included and this works perfectly) as there is an LED and the charging logo on the pad. Can anyone shed any light? Is it just a dummy tray or could a future software update enable it to start working as a charging pad? Many thanks |

My understanding is not all NFC trays are also phone chargers. There is a specific tray dedicated to this. The ones with the phone charger also include a charging status light.
You can use the NFC to enable your key card, that is it. |

They probably had enough moulds to keep that trim peice the same in these cars, but the physical charger underneath ( the magnetic coil ) is probably missing.
I'll check mine next week when I get it as it was produced not long after yours |

Have you turned your phone on and off? My 11 pro wouldn't work with the wireless charger until I re started it

I think that's probably what has happened - I've ordered an aftermarket wireless charger to fit into the space and will see how I get on with that, wonder if it is just a magnetic coil whether it could be retrofitted at a later date

It works very well for me so glad I did it. The part number 9434000 should be a direct swap |

There are some on ebay that look like they are from an X5. Would it be the same part?
Going for Ł110 so don’t want to splash the cash if its not going to fit/work. Bought an aftermarket one that was supposed to work but it was utter rubbish, and only charged for about 10 secs then the light started flashing to indicate it wasn’t charging |

I have a short commute just 15-20mins so on those journeys I just throw the phone on the charging pad, it holds its charge and doesn't get too hot. If I'm doing a longer journey then I plug it in. I like having the choice but agree the cable charges quicker and my phone doesn't get as hot
