FYI even the red one I bought from AutoTecknic has the letters off in ENGINE. It bugs me but I've learned to live with it.

I ordered the Auto Tecknic unit and I think it came out great for the price. As others have mentioned, packaged excessively but appreciated. I managed to remove the stock button within 20 seconds using a sharp steak knife (lol) and precise insertion of the tip in between the button and the center console trim. I carefully pried the button off and did not leave any marks.
Red button does illuminate. See attached images.

Crystal one I just installed.

Brilliant I have just ordered the red button to go with my Fiona red interior. $30 and shipping to Spain was $72.05
This is going to look fantastic, thanks for the heads up

Lightbulb Red, blue, yellow, crystal, carbon fiber, silver, black - $5 up on eBay.com

Guys, if you look around on ebay.com there are a wide variety of colors. The prices are all over the place, starting under $5 with "free shipping" from China and around $12-$15 (mostly) from North America locations.

I can't swear that any of them work or are truly designed for anything beyond the 3 series BMW, but you've gotta figure they work for most seemingly identical applications.

"Your mileage WILL vary!" of course!

[QUOTE=mikeyb74;26877952]BMW hasn't released the red OEM start/stop button for the current models with this set up. The G80, G82, and G83 Ms will have the red start/stop button but the comes with the whole console shift assembly. Which I would love to retrofit into my 330ix M Sport. Has more class and upscale than the current basic version in my G20. [/https://www.ssdd-motorsport.com/bmw-g20-g21-3-series-start-stop-button-red-or-blue/

I loved the red start/stop button so much, I figured the red volume button would be a nice finishing touch as well. I ordered the AutoTecknic Bright Red Audio Volume Button and love the result. Unfortunately, I seemed to have damaged the silver bezel (grooved knob) used to raise or lower the volume. Does anyone know if a replacement can be ordered either OEM or aftermarket? I called my local dealership and they replied that the entire head unit must be ordered. They could not offer me the knob separately -_-

Sticky Clay bar

Anyone know where to get one of those sticky clay bars used to remove the OEM button? I bought the red autotecknic button and they give a flimsy piece of fishing string which does nothing. Been trying to get this button off for the last two days and it's driving me crazy, even tried using 3M tape but it just peels right off when i pull up. Any assistance would be really appreciated.

I used a steak knife, lol. If you have a plastic trim removal kit with a prong thin enough, I imagine that would be the best and safest way to remove the button.

I'm not sure of a clay bar you can use as none of my clay bars are "sticky" or tacky enough to remove the button.

I’m still not able to get hold of the OEM red button. :-( Seems that BMW doesn’t sell them as separate part, always part of the entire console.

Where are you located in TX? I have the silver button from my 330e collecting dust.

Finally found an OEM red Start/Stop button. The standard silver one has 3 pins for attachment, red one had 3,5. So I had to cut of half a pin. Very glad with the result.

Finally a picture to compare the red from an OEM vs an aftermarket (also the letter alignment).
Congrats, hopefully I am able to find one someday (been looking for a long time without luck).

I got very lucky and sourced an OEM M3/M4 start button on Ebay. The color is metallic red with a matte/satin finish. It looks like red anodized aluminum with a satin clearcoat over it. When retrofitted on our cars, it does indeed glow BMW amber.

Great to see somebody else with the OEM button. Did you also had to cut off that 4th tiny clip to fit it properly?
