Question Keeping the exhaust valve open?

Hey all!

Is there anyway to keep the exhaust always open while not needing to be in manual sport mode? The right exhaust only opens after driving around a while in manual sport mode or being in park/ neutral also in sport mode.

I would love to drive around while being in comfort mode with the exhaust open.
I have seen people unplug the exhaust valve plug on previous generations while the exhaust is open to prevent it from closing after pulling out the plug.

UPDATE : For those wondering how it sounds, its a bit louder in both Eco/comfort modes ( sounds the same in both modes ), though you still only get the pops in sport mode.

Feels great to always have the pops in sport mode without having to be in manual and having to go past a certain RPM to keep the flap open. I've noticed before this mod that if I drove in sport mode & manual that doing lots of down shifting would lead to the flap opening, however if I stop doing that for even under a minute the flap would close again.

Procedure : Start the engine, wait a bit and while in Park switch to sport mode and you should hear the flap open. While engine is on ( as I believe while the engine is off the flap closes) go to the rear right bottom of the car to unplug the plug. There should be a little tab to push in in order to get the plug to come out. Pulling the plug really hard won't do anything until you push the little tab to loosen the whole plug. Tape it up and I would suggest zip tying the whole connector along the valve switch.

similar to what we're doing however on the G20 it's on the right exhaust and also having the car off doesn't have the flap open.

Attached images show before and after.
For the connector I taped it up and zip tied it to the bracket. And also taped up the plug and put a zip tied around it to make sure the tape stayed on there and as some more protection.
Attached Images

It's the same here, mine is July build however I think.. But on the otherhand it's a 330e. That's why I thought BMW killed the burbles/pops et.c on purpose because it being a 330e, but maybe it then has to do with with when it was built rather than being a 330e vs 330i/320i et.c..

So it's all in the tune then I guess? I've changed rear muffler to a custom built and that didn't bring any burbles forward, just a bit louder.

Just did it today too!, did you use electrical tape on both ends of the plugs? That's what I did today, though I feel like there need to be a better solution than just the tape. I see your location is in Canada so I'm assuming lots of snow? Do you think the tape is fine for the weather there?

So you put tape on the connector one and plugged it back in?

Yea exactly. Then its "in place"
But not making connection; protects both connections, did the same on my f32 and f15.

Hmm I see now. But it doesn't really plug in correct? Both are just lined up together but taped between each other to prevent the plugs from being connected?
As in a piece of tape between the two plugs to prevent a connection from occurring if that makes it more clear.

Yea I wrapped the male end with tape. It keeps it from connecting, but having it still together keeps the plugs protected

Ah I see now. Might do the same later on.
Currently its the same as yours but just not " together" with the connector being zip tied to the bracket while still covered up.

Thanks for the tip!

Noob question. How do you unplug the connector? Does the car have to be raised on lifts? Are there any errors/CELs on the dashboard/MMI?

No errors, shadow codes if you check codes. But no CEL or anything else.
Just start the car, get it in sport mode, wait for valve to open. Lay under it squeeze the release tab and pull it out.
Or loosen the plug before starting it if you're worried about exhaust in your face

It was a bit hard for me to find the “ tab” to push for the connector to slide right out so I put my car on a lift and it became so much easier as I wasn’t laying on the floor haha. No errors on the dashboard. It was like it never even happened.

Thank you so much guys. I’ll have to wait till I go to my cousins house where his driveway has a defect that makes it act like a built in jack. I’m claustrophobic so that doesn’t help

It's right at the back dont even need to be under the car it's 2" back from the tips you'll see it right away, just reach up and it's there literally took me a minute including taping the plug end off

Thank you once again. Looks like it’s going to be warmer here tomorrow and it’ll be the perfect time to do it then.

You have the touring model correct? Saw a thread where many don't the burbles at all even in sport mode on the touring model. That really sucks. Do you think you would reconsider buying the car if you knew it didn't have any burbles and pops?
