What does "m sound" do?

Recently found the forums for unlocking the secret menu to control your exhaust valves. You can unlock it by using expert mode in BimmerCode.

Go to HU_MGU -> expert -> search "sound" -> aktivate the first 2 items "menu" and "configuration".

Now my question is what does "m sound" do? It pops up as the third item when searching sound.

Hmmm. In the F3x cars, you could code the ASD to sound like an M3/4. Could that be it? Did you try coding it?

Hey, I just registered

So this menu will appear in the console?
also, by changing the exhaust valves, will it make my car sound louder because I think that's the case?
Does it do any harm to the car in long term?

I'm guessing this has nothing to do with ASD,
My guess is on a cold start the valves open and when the engine is warmed up it will close the valves back again?

Did the coding on a 320e, it shows up in the menu, but neigther of the selections make any change. The valve stays closed at all selections.

Any ideas?

Proper configuration:

Enable Exhaust Flap position configuration (open up Engine Sound in options menu in idrive)
in HU ECU:
Display_Configurability_Engine_sound from inaktiv to AKTIV
Display_Menu_Configuration_Sound from inaktiv to AKTIV

I assure you this works when you go to iDrive you will see the new engine sound menu option in settings.

I believe this does not work on 320e

Yup, after I coded it, I tried all the different settings & didn't detect any difference in the sound.

Perhaps it may be because that my car, a 2020 doesn't have a RAM piping sound into car??

What model do you own exactly? The change in sound is very obvious.

Did you ever succeed in opening the flap?

I have a 320e as well and curious on how to do it. There must be some extra coding possible since hardware is present i guess...

There was no software solution. I opened it by taking out the metal clip ( the round thingy on the picture) and then the valve is free. Don’t leave it like this because it will rattle. I took a stainless steel lashing strap, to keep the valve in position.
