I was really hoping to hear more of that whooshing/turbo sound like demonstrated in your promo video. You get the impression that you can really hear that wonderful sound outside the car.

Hopefully this week I'll get a chance to have a listen outside my car while my daughter does some flybys.

I do wish to say that the demo video from Dinan gives one the impression that there is considerable growling/whooshing etc when driving. Clearly, that isn't the case. A little Hollywood magic going on there with the video.

A quote from the product description. 'The secondary air inlets also allow the intake system to be more audible so the turbo spool and BOV can be appreciated. A stark difference from Dinan's traditional fully sealed systems where induction noise is not nearly as recognizable.'

Just my 2-cents

I would recommend to anyone that is installing an intake (for the intake sound) to turn off your ASD (I used Bimmercode). ASD is drowning out the "real" noises that are coming from the engine compartment

That was the second thing I disabled with BimmerCode. First thing was the damn auto start/stop function.

And as for the coding you and I are like minded - I did exactly the same things immediately but added the car always starting in Sport+

Just installed this intake this morning and I can confirm that it is not super loud. Other than that the installation is pretty easy and the build quality is also very good.

hey Great review - and appreciate the candid responses. I have the MST intake (prior to Dinan release) ... and would have swapped if sound was more noticeable. Given these are closed systems its understandable that we only get a slight increase.

not to hijack, but wanted to confirm about coding sport+ ... I've done a bunch of coding using bimmercode - and the choices I found were Adaptive or Sport Individual (where you can configure to sport+) but it doesn't start up "in" sport+... right? not sure if that made sense.

Just got the Dinan intake as a gift from the wife. Kind of disappointed to see others review on how Dinan "hollywooded" the sounds on their promo video. I'm hoping it has some decent sound since I'll be stuck with it. ��

Just got it installed and drove for about 15 miles. Definitely not as loud as the BMS when you get on it. High revs, yeah you can hear it with the windows down, but it's not as satisfying as the BMS. Roll the windows up... what intake?

It looks really nice compared to the BMS (comparison photo), I'll give it that. HP increase...? my butt dyno can't tell the difference.

You should be able too. I have all the stock clamps except for 1, which broke because it was a one time use clamp.

If your drove with the lid off the Dinan...it maybe louder, since it's missing the factory resonator

You might be right, but it's all good. It's probably better to keep hot air out of the intake than to make it sound a little better. Overall, im happy with it. Popped the hood for a few co-workers and they were impressed by the look.

Now on to the next performance part without sounding like a 16 year old waking up the whole neighborhood when coming home from work. Any ideas...? 😂

M-Perf exhaust sounds sweet if you don't have it already! Pair it with a dump pipe and I'm sure the neighbors will love you lol

I just received my intake from x-ph and everything looks great. Haven't been able to get it installed just yet, but itching to get it done.

Only odd thing is that I received two of the carbon fiber lids in my package.

Congrats! You might have gotten an extra lid; once the install is complete, if that's the case, please let me know, and we will take it back
