Not sure if it's obvious or not, but the trim is just that - trim around the diffuser and exhaust. The diffuser is an inlay additional piece.

I went OEM trim and gloss black diffuser but then installed AutoTecknic carbon fiber diffuser. Re-using old pics, I didn't take a better photo of the OEM diffuser with cleaned car unfortunately:

Is your cf diffuser bigger than the OEM cf diffusers?

The fins are more aggressive and stick down further than OEM. OEM carbon fiber option is more like ridges than fins. It's roughly the same size otherwise and fits fairly well. My tab on the top left pops out every now and then slightly, barely noticeable and I push it back in when I catch it. No complaints otherwise, much prefer it over the factory option. And it's half the price.

I'm looking to purchase a new diffuser and trim myself. Can any confirm that the M performance trim along with the AutoTecknic carbon fiber diffuser combo will work with the Dinan Axle Back Exhaust?

Check Alibaba. A lot of companies are just drop ship and buy from a lot of the same manufacturers.

A few PICs of the M-Sport Aero on my 2022 M340 PreLCI

First off... Lets give a full part number list of all the BMW OEM part numbers I purchased:

51 19 2 455 832 Front attachment, black
51 19 2 455 835 Pro carbon front attachment, left
51 19 2 455 836 Pro carbon front attachment, right
51 19 2 455 897 High gloss black sill add-on section, left
51 19 2 455 896 High gloss black sill add-on section, right
51 19 2 458 369 Carbon rear spoiler
51 19 2 455 859 High gloss black rear bumper trim
51 12 2 455 862 High gloss rear towing eyelet cover
51 19 2 455 819 Carbon rear diffuser
OR OR OR
51 19 2 455 740 Carbon rear diffuser
12x Part No. 7 002 953 - Expanding rivet
4x Part No. 7 133 553 - Screws

The rear diffuser you buy will depend on whether you have the hands-free trunk foot kick feature available with the executive package. I do not so my part number was 51 19 2 455 819 - Check with your dealer or supplier on which one you need.
You can also refer to the attached guide that I found. My body guy was very thankful for this.

Here are the PICs

So what I’ve gotten to understand is the actual diffuser part (piece with the fins) is just an insert and could be replaced separate from the rest of the trim. Sounds about right?
