Oil change in B58 - 6 cyl

I just ordered my m440i GC.

From past experience - I know it differs from country to country and service to service …

After how many km/miles it s best to do the oil change ? (I know it might sound stupid but some services are … bad and i don t want them to fuck up my car).

Also … it s necessary to keep a low rev the first 1,2-5000 km ?
I don t think i should go 250 km on the first day I but if so … how much should I wait ? At least a few thousand km I guess.

IMO the breaking in is very important. for the first 3000km to 5000km, do not exceed 140km/hr and keep below 4000rpm. Varies the rpm throughout the whole break in process. Best is a lot of city driving, start and stop, also uphill drive helps a lot.

I usually change the factory oil after break in (max 5000km).

If you have to do the 250 km trip on day one, best to avoid as much highway as u can. if u are on highway, varies the rpm and try not to use the paddle shift, let the transmission determines the gear.

I suggest following BMWs suggested schedule. It's always advisable to go easy on all vehicles for the first 250 miles / 400 km of driving. For most M cars, BMW is a bit more conservative. Reality is modern production tolerances and techniques makes it less critical to follow longer break in periods.

Change your oil as specified by BMW. In most cases every 10K miles / 16K km.

Enjoy your car. Don't sweat the small stuff.

When I picked up my M340i in June the instructions said to keep revs below 4500 for the first 1200 miles, and no hard braking (don’t remember the mileage ). Do not use the launch control.
We left the performance center and went on the Blueridge Parkway, so varying rpm and keeping revs down was an easy task.

I have about 7500 miles on my car so far, and the oil measurement still shows at full. No issues at all with excessive oil usage, so it seems everything got broken in properly. FYI - I calculated 33.5 MPG on a 4500 mile highway trip, so now you can also call the M340i an economy car.

Wow! 35 mpg …

I just got back from my trip (around 2000km) and got … 10,5 l/km … around 22 mpg on my F30 320D …(but always to the floor on highway).

I expect around 15 mpg on m440… after 4-5000 miles
