I program it to the diamond button on keyfob as instructed on the manual but it doesn't work. Even if it did work, it would be a bit clumsy way to activate it, I think.
It doesn't work by pulling on high beam either, like it did on F30.
What am I missing?

Did you set the duration (to something else than 0 seconds)?
There are two ways to turn it on:
* Before leaving the car, give the signaling stalk a push forward.
* Outside the car, press the diamond button for 2 seconds.

And for US cars; My understanding is that your remote has a "Panic alarm" button instead.
