Hey Guys,

I just made a video reviewing the 2022 3 series ordering guide for Canada and breaking down the differences from last year.
Spoiler alert, M340i will now have the option for carbon fibre roof, carbon interior trim and M seat belts!

These carbon options are usually reserved for M cars and now on regular 3 series totally diluted the M car values.

Thanks for the video! A few things come to mind:

- No more phone charging tray? That would suck because I use mine a lot.
- Removal of digital key? Is that for all packages? BMW rollout of digital key has been a cluster anyhow. I have 2 BMW cars, both have digital key and I can't use either with my Samsung S21+.

I can't find any wireless charging tray and wifi hotspot on any 2022 ordering guide that i have been over, 2 series GC, 3 series, 4 series and 5 series. Its just gone. Idk if this is an error but i doubt it since it is on every ordering guide.

BMW released a bulletin a few weeks ago about the digital key being removed for android devices so i am not sure if it referring to the phone digital key for that of if they mean the physical wallet card that you would get.

I was surprised to see it and also think it should be reserved for true M cars. even as a client advisor it is getting harder to explain the difference between M and non-M cars to people that are new to the brand. People think these "M-lite" cars (thats what i like to call them) are M cars cause the have the "M"before the model name.

Have you SEEN the price of F80s? I would say the new grills have more than offset any "dilution."

Just call them "M-Performance cars." That's what they would technically be.

So what, I doubt you'll complain about selling your clients M-lite vehicles, right?

As many of us that actually own an M340i, we know that we'll destroy most cars on the road today, "lite" or not. I laugh at so-called "true M-car" owners that bitch about this. If it bothers you that much, get a different car. Maybe deep down it bothers some pre-G80/82 owners that this current M-lite (M Performance) vehicle is neck and neck with them in some ways. In addition, it's not like this is a cheap car. Shit mine stickers at a hair below 70 grand.

Oh by the way, perhaps it's getting harder for you to explain to your uneducated clients the difference because the gap has closed?

I believe it will be structural. Maybe the same one pulled from the M3. However BMW has not provided any training on it. I only noticed it in the ordering guide. Also the M3 does not provide a item code for the standard Carbon roof so i can not confirm it is the same one.

I do not complain no lol. I do think the M340i is an amazing car and yes i think you are right, The gap has closed so much so it is harder to explain the differences.

Thanks for the update. I would imagine these should be available for USA market at-least for the facelift model. If I get another M340i, I would certainly opt for the CF roof since I never use my moonroof. CF trim is also a nice touch, can't wait to see all the changes coming for the facelift ....

Good riddance on the charging tray. Thing is literally beyond worthless. Turns my iPhone into a toaster in about 10 minutes. Needs a total rework/reengineering. Ditch the transponder in this, with it's complicated hand-off protocols that overheat many phones. Just give us a straight-up Qi charger and nothing more.

I'm with you there. Never use the moonroof. Plus I remember the first time I opened it. Thought the damn thing was broken as it only opens just over halfway.

Totally worthless. Overheats in 2 secs flat. On a side note my wife just purchased a 2021 X3 M40i. The wireless charger doesn't even put out a decent amount of power and barely even charges. Go figure.
