not every market is the same... prices differ by a lot from a regular 3 series to an M3.

The whole thing reminds me of the 2002 Hommage from a few years ago and I love it.

While I'm still not keen on the tails, I have now seen 4 G20s in white, black, silver and just the other day an orange one and they really are quite attractive in person...much more so than in photos. The orange is certainly among the better colors.

It's gonna take a LOT more for these cars to be able to park next to E46's and E9X's, or any previous 3/4series, and be respected as a BMW.
I LOL every time I read a comment like this. Most people like this new 3 but a certain subset like you feel like you have to spout hate for the new car because you don't have one and you want to somehow justify your older model is better.

Enthusiasts have complained about something in the 3 series in every generation e46 was too big and steering was too light according to C&D, e90 was ugly with its tail lights and was too big and too heavy.

Just give it a rest ol sport. You'll be a happier person

Correct. Enthusiasts complain when they have dislikes.

The steering was too light in the E46 for sure. I've owned two 325s and an M3. And absolutely many buyers are searching for a car that's not as big a 5 series. That's why BMW lost the luxury small car sales crown to Mercedes and why the Audi A3 is also outselling them in this segment.

Many of us want our 3 series to be a 3 series sized vehicle, if we wanted a 5er we would be shopping for it.

The bigger the better the tighter the sweater is a nice fun immature saying. Unfortunately it doesn't apply to cars. Bigger isn't always better. BMW has been making cars bigger,
Grilles bigger, and adding more power and feels that this must be better.

I think the sales crown has to do with coupes being low volume compared to 4 doors like the A3 and CLA.

Fact is that once the 1 series was brought to the US, the 3 is no longer the baby bimmer. I must say, at least you can get the current baby bimmer in RWD/6MT

Correct... BMW opted to produce the 1er and 2er here in such LOW volume that they went COUPE only and no SEDAN.

Every BMW model sells better in a sedan form... from 1 er to 8 er.... X models included..

BMW cut their teeth on E30 SEDAN, E36 SEDAN, E46 SEDAN, and E90 SEDAN models. Sure the coupes sold but the sedans sold more.

So indeed.. BMW has left a lot of buyers on the roadside still driving around in their E36, E46, and E90s .... it's no surprise that those people are going to be a little salty when a 3er that's really 5 series sized comes out and there is nothing in the market from BMW and yet the competition is selling CLA, A3 , Lexus IS, VW CC, etc.

We can see why Infiniti stopped selling compact sedans... but not BMW.... they shaped this market for decades and then left it for dead, only to realize the market still exists.. Just because Americans have on average gained weight over the last several decades.. doesn't mean that americans only want BIG sedans.

my Ex and I have owned 2 E30 M3, 3 E46 convertibles, 2 E46 sedans , 1 E46 M3 coupe, 2 E84 X1 , and an E90 convertible.
Non BMW vehicles owned include 2 1990s era Honda Accords , a 2005 Subaru Legacy sedan and two Ford Expeditions.

I have NEVER OWNED a F30 or G20 or any 5 series sedan sized vehicle.. and it may be many more years before I get old enough to want a BMW M Geeze. If I needed a big vehicle I went big SUV... a category BMW has avoided until this year with the X7 finally being brought to market.

so... it's not about trying to hate on what is NEW... or just favoring my old crusty BMWs.. and I certainly can AFFORD a new vehicle... but what I am seeing from BMW is FWD X1, X2, and 2 series... and I am very disappointed.

They have refused to bring over hatchback models, they tried to kill off the manual transmission, and they have tried to kill off the small sedan, only to have to come back to the market with tail between the legs with a FWD sedan produced in Mexico that won't arrive here until 2021.

And all the while they insist on telling us that they build what customers want..

You're right. I can't have a G20 so I come on here to bash it. How old are you, 17?

The G20 has received more hate than any 3-series BMW I can remember. Deservedly so because it looks like 5 other manufacturer's cars from older generations. It's NOT a debate. Thats a much bigger sin than being a few pounds heavier than a previous model. If you don't see that, then you are blinded by your fanboism.

Don't get so offended that you have to accuse people of sharing their opinion under false pretenses. It's not healthy and very infantile.

Beautiful car but wait for 340 or M. Do not get 330 unless you drive around town only.

I strongly disagree! But that's why we have online forums, right? To discuss these things. The E46 is the standard. In my opinion, this Lexus design doesn't hold a candle to it at all...
