iihs, not me. In fact non-adaptive were rated a poor/fail, just like Halogen. The Adaptive LED only scored "Acceptable" not "Good". |

Headlight alignment is a job done by a human on a highly calibrated reference point at the factory. I find it hard to believe that BMW would have proper headlights but just misalign all of them from the factory that contributes to a lower IIHS rating on base models. I find it more likely that you're blinding oncoming traffic. |

Are the light outputs capped in the US?
I thought the regulations effectively made lights compared to say the EU equivalents inferior in both output and functionality?( thought I read somewhere though that rules as regards adaptive were about to change for the better?) |

But they’re still aiming them too low or US at least. When I got my car home, we parked in front of the garage next to Q50s that my wife drove to give me a ride to the dealership. Parked parallel and at the same distance from the garage doors, her lights were throwing LED lights much higher than F30. |

Well to me the low beam graphs are almost identical and I believe the Executive package gets the better rating due the longer range of the laser lights (I do not believe, correct me if wrong) but you can not manually disable them even for testing.
It is also aided by high beam assist which is an individual option for all light packages |

Actually, it seems that Adaptive LED headlights low-beam performs slightly better on the right side of the road compared to Lasers. On the contrary, Lasers perform a bit better on the left side of the road compared to Adaptive LEDs. All in all, there is no visible difference between main-beams. The only significant difference is with high-beams where Lasers throw around 25% further. |
