I'm just guessing, but these look like the same calipers that are on the M Sport with unique rotors and probably different pads. Thesse are just 4 piston calipers that are made to look much larger. The larger caliper probably does improve heat dissipation and rigidity, but it's obviously mostly intended to be aesthetic. Pretty lame design, IMO.

G20 M Perf are 374mm only, unlike the G30 / G11 M Perf option which is a 395mm caliper body.
I have tested the G30 / G11 395mm caliper (with disc) on the G20 hub and it fits perfectly. If anyone is interested, I have several sets of 374mm and 395mm calipers for sale in the classifieds |

As I said the G20 only gets the 374mm M Perf option, not the 395mm. As for the rear, if you have the M Sport blue brakes already, then this M Perf kit just supplies you an identical caliper - just painted red - with the addition of a dimpled / slotted disc. The same applies to m340i owners who may have optioned the front 374mm blue M Sport brakes already - this kit simply adds an identical caliper body - but painted red!! It’s a waste of money if you already have the 374mm brake kit in M sport format. You can literally paint your calipers, add the M Perf rotors and you have an identical set up to the one you linked, for less cost. If you have 348mm M Sport brakes then again you are simply replacing your rear caliper with an identical size with this kit.... only the front will increase in size to 374mm. My point was simply that there are much cheaper ways to add either 374mm or 395mm, and you are not limited by the red only colour of the M Perf kit! |

It would be really lame if BMW slapped some red paint on the SAME calipers, gave you some slotted (not drilled) rotors and called it M-Performance. |

The caliper body is identical in every way, with the exception for the red paint. Brake pad part number (34106888459) is the same for both the red M Perf brakes and also cars optioned with S33TA. |

The X3m however, uses a 395x36 ///M disc also, and I have photographs from a contact in Germany showing it all bolting up on a G20 hub. The only issue is the location hole for the disc retaining screw, which does not line up with the G20 hub. |

In the U.K. we have M technology package which is different to the technology package. I have attached a picture, I'm not sure if this gives you bigger brake discs or not. Can anyone clarify?

So what's the brake size compared to the standard m340i brakes? And are the discs any bigger/better?

Optional brakes (part of the package) are 374mm and the caliper body is substantially larger, so fills the wheel much better! Still not as big as the G3x & G1x 395mm set ups though, which is an even larger caliper body - officially this is not available for G2x cars, but I can verify that they fit.... |
