Second people here keep thinking that Asian/chinese market love big grilles. The fact is that the best and hottest selling cars in Asia/China don't have big grilles. If they did Lexus would way outsell the German cars but they probably sell less in Asia than in North America(correct me if I am wrong). |

I can only apologise for my criticism of the new 3 series, what was I thinking, that actually looks good compared to this. So glad I sold up my last car early to get into one of the last F80s. Honestly can't see me getting a G80, only time will tell if it grows on me so I guess I'll reserve judgement but one things for certain I'm not ditching a beauty for an ugly one trick pony... Sad days, BMW can't say they weren't warned... I hope they do well in their Asian markets (were they really losing sales as their grilles were too small?) but I can see a lot of people changing to other brands in the West - feels like they will lose more custom than they will gain over here...

I was one that thought black with the extended black package would help the overall look of the front end. I was wrong. This car is going to be a problem for BMW. This one may be just enough of a design departure to impact sales. LCI will need to be expedited to salvage the front end. The rear end looking Japanese/Korean will be left alone, the front needs immediate help.

Yeah, apparently the votes have already been counted... BMW sales in the US were up almost 2% in 2019, but 4 model sales were down by 41%. Pretty much sealed a styling change for 2021. Apparently the bitching die hard enthusiasts didn’t care too much for the heritage of the previous 4’s either. |

Hooo boy! I remember when the F-gen came out and how a large amount of people lambasted the connected headlights with the grille, but people usually came around and BMW did a pretty decent job of manipulating it over time so that it looked better. I'm surprised, but not surprised, that the same has not happened here. People are not coming around. In fact, I think the dislike/hate is growing. F-gen looks pretty damn good now (except for the Pep Boy vents behind the front wheels ).
I'm also wondering about how BMW can manipulate the LCI version so that the grill is more tolerable. I don't see it without a complete redo. Nothing, absolutely nothing, beats the 3rd-5th gens. |

This thread made me realize that along with the horrid grilles; sooner or later we're going to see someone accent those radiator braces by painting them.

I like the bold look.... I think the grill is good, maybe I'm a exception. This is a revolutionary design with BMW elements.

It's interesting that BMW think it's OK to put the M8 seats in a 430i they seem to be doing this across range with offering the M5 seats in a 520i
Personally the M seats were a major factor in me buying my last 6 M cars (engine aside) and if you're going to charge 140k for a car you need to make sure it doesn't have the same seats a a 50k car IMHO. I think it's a step too far.
