You are right WBA stands BMW AG, Munich, Germany which is the manufacturer according to apost that I found here https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1558031
The 7 letter stands for the factory location which I didn't found it accurate as mine 7th letter is F |

No not yet
I did have a discussion today with the sales guy about where the car is actually coming from; Munich or Mexico…since the VIN decoder says Mexico. He says he will recheck things and get back to me… |

If European cars are indeed made in Mexico; does anyone know which ship/vessel is used for the transportation?
And to which port is it going? Normally the dealer should be answering this but somehow they won’t.. |

But there are several topics on this forum about vessel info from EU to the US. So most logical would be they operate in both directions right?

From Veracruz they ship them to Germany (Bremerhaven) . Then they install the European updates there for 2-3 days ( according to my dealer ) and then ships them to destination country. Next scheduled trip from Veracruz to Bremerhaven is on 26/01 . Fingers crossed my car is in this vessel 😬😬 |

Also recieved my vin, added to the IOS BMW App - so now I am looking at a "nearly yours" icon on my homescreen.
VIN also starts with WBA, dealer could not advise if the factory would be German or Mexican. Bimmer.work also shows Manufacturer San Luis Potosi, Mexico / BMW AG Last edited by Djoest; 01-29-2023 at 04:48 AM.. |

I'm at the same phase. Just keep watching my new car in the BMW app .
Hopefully it will receive soon depending on the vessel from Mexico. If bimmer work says Mexico it's probably Mexico as my colleagues was manufactured the same week as mine and his vin at bimmer says Germany (as our BMW salesman stated ) |

I contacted my salesman last week when I heard he no longer works for the dealer company
Maybe this happened after giving me false information about delivery times (for weeks). When I talked to his colleagues they told me that all G20 sedans worldwide (hybrid or not) are being built in Mexico since the LCI came out. (which was already mentioned earlier). The G20 not-LCI was built in Mexico and Munich depending on model en continent it is sold to. The G21 (touring) is built in Munich because the G21 is mainly sold in Europe and therefore they have more production capacity in Munich for EV's, primarily the i4. Sounds logic to me... About my 320e they could say it's waiting in the port of Veracruz to be loaded on the vessel (which one they couldn't say yet) and after that it would sail to Bremerhaven first, then maybe pass a port in the UK and then to Zeebrugge Belgium. After that it's transported via train or truck. Delivery would be approx. the end of March, maybe quicker. Still much unclear to me but it seems like this is as much as they know. |

My G20 was built on 2023-01-18 in Mexico and now I'm waiting for it to depart from Veracruz to Bremerhaven => Verona => Bergamo.
My salesman told me it will arrive in mid-March. For your information this is an example of VIN decoding: (1-3).......3MW => Manufacturer (NOT the manufacturing location!) (4-8).....5U9J0 => Describe the vehicle, like model, body style, engine type, and transmission (9)...........1 => Check digit for VIN (10)..........M => Production year (11)..........8 => Manufacturing location (12-17)..C02562 => Factory’s production sequence number "(Manufacturing location) + (Factory’s production sequence number)" is the UNIQ sequence number for the vehicle (the famous last 7 digits of the VIN). Like this (minute 1:20) 8C02533: https://youtu.be/BY_v0AGhSfI These are some codes for the manufacturing location (11th position): A - Munich, Germany B - Dingolfing, Germany C - Dingolfing, Germany D - Dingolfing, Germany E - Regensburg, Germany F - Munich, Germany G - Munich, Germany J - Regensburg, Germany K - Munich, Germany L - Spartanburg, South Carolina (USA) N - Plant Rosslyn, South Africa 8 - Planta San Luis Potosí, Mexico All G20-LCI (petrol&diesel) are built in Mexico, except some MPA (M-Performance-Automobiles) version like M340i. G21-LCI in Germany. Last edited by Whitecar; 01-30-2023 at 12:00 PM.. |

We might end up in the same boat from Mexico to Europe.
The last vessel that was departed from Veracruz headed to Europe is Victoria Highway from K-Lines let's hope some of our cars are already inside ! |

Hey all,
Had an update from the Genius today on my order. -G21 M340d -UK -Ordered 7th Dec I managed to get an early build slot with estimated delivery at the time of 1st March. (I'd still be amazed if I still get delivery on that date!). Apparently my car is has just in the last 2 days gone from 'on order' to 'in production'. He couldn't provide a VIN but he said he believes it's being built in Germany, and not Mexico as I'd been told. |
