Tire fitment question

Hey folks,
I bought a set of rims/tires, and completely forgot about that X drive can have issues if I have different size tires front/back
255/35/19 Front
295/30/19 Rear

Will I have issues with this setup?
Or should I change out either the front or rears to have the same sidewall profile?

Thanks!

No issues. Those tires are well within the recommended limits for diameter difference front to rear. It’s the diameter you have to worry about with x drive, not the width. Would love to see some pictures, and share your wheel stats!

Less than 3% height difference.

Looks good! Any rubbing with the 295’s? I’m torn between 285 and 295 rears. Difference is the same to the 255 front, at least it is with 18’s.

Are you lowered or at stock height?

Looking at tire specs, in 19” your set is the same height front to rear. 285 is .2” smaller.

the 295's are definitely aggressive, but the previous owner confirmed there was no rubbing.

I'm at stock height, I was going to lower with Dinan, but my car is winter driven in Canada.. so I'll keep the suspension at stock height

I believe the accepted max difference front to back is 1% in diameter. See Kies Motorsports YouTube video on fitting a staggered setup to an Xdrive car.

Yeah could be. I’ve seen both numbers floated around. Regardless, the OP’s set up is the same front to back, so no issues.

I don't know how you came to the conclusion that the 285 (/30 19?) gives the same difference?
Nominal figures for 255/35-19 vs 295/30-19 gives a circumference difference of 0.2%. Hard to find another combination that comes close.

Going with 18" and 285: 255/40-18 vs 285/35-18 gives 0.7%
The difference can in reality be both larger and smaller depending on exact tire models.

Did you read the post? I said 285 is .2” shorter diameter than the 255/35/19 front.

Tire rack list the Michelin, the first tire listed and the first one I clicked on, in 255/35/19 and 295/30/19 as having the same diameter of 26”. Of course every tire is very slightly different between manufacturers, but not in any meaningful way.

I also said that the difference between front and rear is the same in 18” sizes for 285 and 295. 255/40/18 is 26”, 285/35/18 is 25.9” and 295/35/18 is 26.1”, so either way there is a .1” difference front to rear.

Not sure what you are arguing about.

Thanks!
You are within 1% of X drive. There will be a slight poke on the back though unless you are ok with that.
