My review of Armytrix Full Catback Exhuast
Hi all,
I ordered the Armytrix exhaust for my G20 330i and thought I would write a review here if anyone was interested. Armytrix Sport Cat Downpipe w/ 200 CPSI Catalytic Converter + https://www.armytrixusa.com/armytrix...152674095.html The main reason why I chose Armytrix over other brands was because of their valvetronic system. Using the remote/app to control the valves to either open/close. Many other brands didn’t have that and this was something that I wanted. I didn’t want everyone in my apartment building to all wake up in the morning as I head out pretty early for work, and especially those cold starts in the winter. The installation was fairly easy, everything fit into the correct place from my 200cell downpipe to the catback. My exhaust tips were not really extended out a lot, I wanted it to stick out just a little bit more than the original stock tip. But there is actually a lot of room for it to extend out if you like that style. For the sound, I was amazed at how quiet it can be when the valve is closed. It sounds the same as the stock exhaust with the valve open in sport mode. I had no problems with it during those cold starts in March when I got the exhaust (yes it’s been a while). In the video below, the revs in the beginning were with the valve closed, and then with the valve open and a couple of fly bys. Around 2k-3k rpm in sport mode when slowing down, it likes to have quieter but still noticeable burbles that sound identical to a M3/M4 with MPE. It’s nice to have those loud burbles at higher rpms and at the same time the quieter but a bunch of more burbles at the lower rpms. Update : My car didn’t come with the sport plus mode so everything that was shot on the video was in sport mode. After getting sport plus coded into my car, the exhaust sounds even better now. In sport plus, I get a lot more burbles, and everything just sounds a bit deeper than in sport mode. Especially in the lower rpms range, the burbles can last up to 2-3 seconds and it just sounds so good as it’s not too loud but not super quiet and is just perfect for my liking. I will try to film some more shots in sport plus mode this week. I took a quick video last night showing the quieter burbles at 2-3k rpms, that was in sport plus mode. Also included a couple of fly bys in sport plus. Back in March there were very few brands that had exhausts for the G20 330i and almost no videos on youtube. I’m glad I went with Armytrix and how the exhaust turned out. Sport mode only : https://www.dropbox.com/s/ev84vzn2ih...0330i.mp4?dl=0 Spot Plus mode only : https://www.dropbox.com/sh/7s5pel98q...4uQ2a_woa?dl=0 It’s the same car in all the videos, had my bumpers changed and wrapped the whole car + new wheels. If you have any questions or want a specific video of the sound of the exhaust please let me know! Last edited by chunll2001; 08-27-2020 at 12:15 AM.. |

I did get a stage 2 tune from bm3. I might do a dyno soon to see the true power that the car can actually get. Also, for the burbles setting I kept it on OEM. I think it sounded the best in OEM setting as I know a lot of people like to change the burbles in bm3 to last longer etc. When I changed the burbles setting to custom and played around, the burbles came on at different RPMS and sometimes I would downshift and get no burbles at all and sometimes a bunch would just come on. For the OEM setting, you burbles come on almost always at the same RPMS and each time you downshift so I just stuck with that setting. I didn't get Fi at the time because back in March there weren't much videos on any exhaust for the G20 and I also had experience with Armytrix and their customer service in the past so I thought I would give Armytrix a try for my G20. Also I'd like to mention that Amrytrix other than their valvetronic system, their exhausts are just loud in general. This was something that I wanted as I didn't want to go catless but still wanted my exhaust to sound loud enough to my liking. |

For the Fi Exhaust I'm not sure if yours is electronic or not but for Armytrix it was a wire that connected from the muffler by where the exhaust tips are all the way to the engine's vacuum source. From what I heard, it uses air to control the exhaust valve rather than electronically. The wiring was placed inside of the panels on the bottom of the car by the left side of all the exhaust pipes. This way, the wires are safe from any road debris, weather etc. When your car goes on a lift, you'll see all the panels on the left side of the car that I'm talking about. We just ran all the wires inside those panels to keep it safe all the way all up to engine. Let me know if you have anymore questions! |

I just watched the video from FiExhaust for the B48. In my opinion, it sounds too deep for me, it's like the sounds you get from really old and modified Honda's. I have a lot of those cars driving around in my area and that was the first impression of the FiExhuast for me. On top of that, the burbles/pops don't sound really clear either, it's like the butbles/pops doesn't really pop? As in they carry more of a deep low end sound than actual clear pop sounds. If that makes any sense? This is another video made by Armytrix on the G20. I would like to say that in person it sounds a bit more deeper, especially when you put it into sport plus modes. My pops also sound different, hard to explain but if you watch my videos you can tell. Let me know what you think! But yeah, I get you. It's really hard to choose a exhaust when you can't hear them in person. |

Thank you!
I pictured that this satin gray color wrap would best match the black grill as my original color was white and I felt like the it didn't match as nice as it would've with a darker color. |

I got it down to 4.7 My friend has a Audi A6 C8 3.0 TSFI which does 0-60 in 4.7. My car does goes right along side of him when launching to 60. I'm pretty sure I can get more power out of my car so I'm going to dyno it soon. I'm assuming the exhaust + downpipe probably gave me about 25-30hp and the intake is about 10-15 hp. After bm3 ( stage 2 octane 93: up to 26% hp increase ) I think my car is pushing about 350-360 hp than stock 254 hp. |

Those are nice numbers. I have a jb4 and nothing else. My car is pushing around 275whp. I was contemplating going stage 2 in the future but since mine is a lease, I'm not so sure.

I had JB+ on my car before, the stage 2 gave my car more power but not as much power as from stock to jb+ so I would say just keep the jb4.

Tho, when in sport plus, I can still hear the burbles with the windows up it's just much quieter. I will include a video in a bit! As fo the ASD, there is no interference at all. I had it turned off, but then with the windows fully up and some music playing I can barely hear the exhaust so I turned ASD back on for a little bit of more sound in the cabin. Even with windows down and ASD on you honestly don't even hear much of the ASD anymore because the exhaust is much louder than what is pumping through the speakers. |

Hey man, the car looks and sounds awesome! Did the exhaust come with a downpipe (turboback)? I was hoping to get it in just Catback but not sure if they have that option...

How did you hook up the vacuum from the muffler? Dont you have to plumb up a vacuum line to the new valve? I dont think there are any soft rubber vacuum lines on this motor
