This. I had it in my X5M and instantly knew I'd never get it again. People will tick the full leather box and then create a thread talking about the car not feeling sporty or being too heavy. Make it make sense.

To each their own. At pushing $100k, I don't want to look at an injection molded plastic dash. I totally get that many won't care in the least, but for me, it's one of those things. Same with on my Porsches.

Now, I don't necessarily even care that it's "leather". But even the sensatec dash looks kinda downmarket to me. Just one of my "must haves".

Full leather is glorious . I'd say overwhelmingly the majority of folks who experience it once, tend to tick that box over & over again.

Never cared for it until I had it in my G80

I have the full leather on my G80X and like it better than my original with the non full leather, but after a while (felt this way with my GT4 and 911s with full leather), the novelty does wear off a bit. I do think BMW does have nice leather though and the extra smell of full leather is quite nice.

Love this thread.

OP starts a thread to whine about HUD (no wonder these cars weight nearly 4k lbs and cost 100k) only to be told he doesn’t know how to use the configurator.

The rest of the peanut gallery (and I mean that in a good way) start debating two of our favorite items - Porsche and options.

Oh, and the answer is shut off HUD, Full leather, carbon roof, buckets and MT.

Hey man. Full leather in Fjord is too nice for me to keep my mouth shut here. You check that box right now pal. Please

Not even close. The module for the dash is on eBay from dealers at $190 and then the windshield is $700. Coding is free. So in all reality and fact it’s a cheap $890-$900 option.

BMW leather is subpar compared to the $150k-$290k Land Rover autobiography SUVs. Ask me how I know? It lasts longer, built better and doesn’t fade like the cheaper BMW leather .

The HUD is an $1100 option on the M2 so for me $600 for remote start, heated steering wheel and power trunk - which can be coded to close as well is worth it for the extra $600.

Though, You would think there is enough volume to justify more customization but it would effect the lede time.

I did not have full leather in my ‘22 X3M. My last M4 had a black interior but was full leather. I liked the look and feel of the full leather. It just looked and felt more premium. That said it’s not that big a deal for me. Neither is HUD but if I could only pick 1 it would have been full leather vs HUD.

then why does it force me to add full leather as soon as i add the Executive Package? and when i go back to the Interior to revert to extended leather it forces me to remove the Executive Package?

i will reconsider the full leather, though.

I’m not sure what you’re doing on the site, but you definitely don’t need full leather to add the Executive pkg (I just went and double checked it too).

We'll be no better than the RL guys who spend hours discussing deviated stitching and superfluous leather options.

Berzerker, you're a pretty knowledgeable BMW-guy and a great contributor. Your opinions are always solid.

As for me, I've had HUD equipped BMWs since it was first introduced in the 2004 E60 5er. HUD was a delayed introduction so I waiting for it to become available before I got mine. I loved it then and I love it now. I haven't had a BMW since without HUD. It's an incredible safety feature imo.

But that, as they say, is why they make vanilla AND chocolate ice cream.

I think the Fjord Blue specifically requires the executive if you get the full leather. I had noticed that myself.

True

I’ve had it in every BMW since my 2016 F82, and can’t imagine not having it. I turned down a smoking deal on an Alpha Romeo Quad in 2022 mainly because it didn’t have HUD (and some other things I didn’t like).

It’s a system glitch. If you choose a different color, add the Executive pkg, then go back and change to Fjord, it doesn’t require you to add full leather.

I think you're misunderstanding. I absolutely adore a HUD and will option it on every car I own from now on and will have to really think if I'm ever in a situation where I will be buying a car without one.

My comment was specifically referring to the blue background that's on the iD8-based HUDs that wasn't present on previous iDrive generation HUDs. :P

That’s what I was thinking, system glitch. I would double check with the dealer when you order. But, I believe Cane has it figured out.

I think it’s just a glitch. Also, keep in mind, you need to be sure what you pick, the first time, because you can’t make any changes to an individual order.
