truth is autopilot when used attentively, is much better at highway driving than any other systems i've experienced, certainly better than the ones on the new 5 series, which has a nasty habit of bouncing between the lane markers.
Autopilot is crap.

Who trusts their lives to this?

"last year"? I didn't know that April 2018 was last year. Are you from the future?

You do know that video is trying to recreate the conditions of this 2018 Autopilot accident right?

Personally I really don’t care how good any autopilot system may be.... I will NEVER trust it. Think how many times your PC, tablet or cellphone freezes or crashes and this still happens after they’ve been around for many years!!!

No autopilot system will EVER be failsafe.... simple fact!!

Similar thinking. Problem is, humans are not that reliable either, certainly not failsafe. Poses the question in my mind, which is worse?

Obviously humans will always have heart attacks and strokes at the wheel, not to mention the everyday momentary lapses of concentration. At least the latter (and more common) can frequently be corrected before disaster, whereas a software crash or freeze cannot be! I guess a system which guarantees 100% to audibly & visibly warn the driver of any software malfunction in time for them to take over would be acceptable

I still would never want an autonomous car though!

if you bothered to look at the iihs article you'll see autopilot vastly outperformed all major manufactures' systems in the same test when it comes to lane keeping.

if autopilot is "crap", then the other systems are clearly worse than crap they shouldn't even be allowed to operate.

As a software developer who knows this stuff isn't a magical black box, you go on ahead and beta test this crap with your life. If I see a Tesla on the road I'm staying the hell away.

I kind of like driving. No interest in auto pilot. Maybe ultimately it will make the roads safer but so would stopping the sale of soda and other sugary crap. Who wants to live in that world?

I'd like autopilot if it could drive me home drunk or asleep etc. Maybe in traffic but traffic jam assist type stuff is fine for that already.

If I can't actually sleep in my car I'm probably ok with at least steering it with some sort of Uber radar cruise control which you can already get

Basically the kink is a bend in the window shape/trim which is unique to bmw and gives a distinct look. It has stayed mostly similar in new design bmws despite other parts of the car changing. Some traditional bmw fans fear that bmw will phase it out.
