Aftermarket Sub-woofer on G20
I am new to BMW. I'm in the process of searching the right option combination on the M340i. Looks like I will be narrowing it down in the next couple of days.
My question, Has anyone installed a subwoofer into the new G20? - If so, what was the set up? I am looking for a powered Rockford Fosgate P300. |

Hi,
Like always with BMW it depends on the level of OEM audio you opt for. If you go with H/K there will likely be MOST integration to the amp and you will have to use a MOST integration (e.g. moBridge or similar) or a DSP which can cope with the high voltage output from the factory H/K amp. If you go with regular Hi-Fi with factory amp there is balanced differential low-level from the HU to the amp, or the same high voltage output after the amp. So basically same options as earlier generations.

So, with the HK system it is safe to say if I go with a self powered woofer like rockford fosgate p300-10 punch. It would work fine with the existing system? I know that this particular model does not require a remote wire from the HU.

The HK booster should output at least 100W per woofer... that's between 20-26V peak. That p300-10 accepts 3V max -you need a LOC.

Going to be putting a sub in my m340. Have a quote for a custom mounted sub that would sit in the trunk floor with a custom box and metal cover. Would be 2 10in jbl and a 1000 watt amp.
He said 2400 which felt like a lot. I have an existing sub and amp which I was thinking of just bringing over to save money. Do you think best buy would be capable of connecting my existing system to the m340 without much trouble? |

I have the hk system. It's very nice sounding with good stage, bass has some punch but not 500+ watts of external sub which I'm used to. I'm getting ppf and tinting done now so maybe in a few weeks I'll consider it. |

It's easy to add an amp to the car. I dropped in a 12" solo baric and JL rd1000 Amp and I have the hifi system. Shop charged $150 for install.

Yes. Mine does. I coded it off with BimmerCode app but it's still there. Just not as bad. Very annoying.

Just got my 2020 330i with HiFi audio and not impressed with audio. For starters want to install my existing 12" Kicker sub and Pioneer GM-D8601 amp. Appears pretty easy since I have a AudioControl LC2i 2 Channel Line Out Converter. Just planned to tie LOC into rear speakers and power amp from battery in trunk. Trying to make sure no hidden surprises I am not thinking of, as I had unexpected surprises with same setup in my previous Cadillac and had to make mods to its onboard DSP. Thanks in advance |
