All the F80 owners shitting on our M340's again lol what's new.
G20 sounds way better than the muffled exhaust of an F80. Plus videos don't do the M340 exhaust any justice

I have an F82 6MT, a supercharged E36 M3 with 6MT, an E46 M3 with a carbon box and ethanol with a 6MT, a diesel F30 (wife's car) and now a new M340i with a stage 2 tune on it. In the past I've also had an E60 M5. Each car has their own issues: - E36 M3 have somewhat low quality plastic interior and underpowered US variant of S52 - E46 M3 is an amazing car but it has the annoying subframe, vanos and rod bearing issues and the infamous M clunk specific to this generation - the F generations are great but their interior plastic is shit (just try pocking at the area of the radio) and the "stuck on" appearance of the multimedia screen is tacky and now severely dated - G20 M340 is a bigger and heavier car, no manual etc etc. Bottom line I will say this: - E36 I keep for sentimental reasons - E60 M5 had to go - F82 M4 will go as I don't use it that much except for occasional canyon runs (and even then 8/10 times I pick up my E46 M3 with a carbon box and ethanol putting down 335whp to hear that GLORIOUS induction noise at 8000 rpm) - M340i with RWD, stage 2 tune and stock exhaust is an amazing daily car. It is fast. Really effin fast. It is quiet, the quality of materials in it are MUCH MUCH better than the F generation (except merino leather in the F82 is nicer), it has nice technology with BMW assistant actually understanding what I'm saying, it gets 26 mpg even WITH my tune. So, I get it, the M folk feels like they need to "defend" their cars but the reality is that the moderns cars are just better to live with and if you want to go for true classics, then get something with an NA engine. |

going from an f80 to a g20, you can't really compare the two in my opinion.
the f80 stock sound is worlds above the g20 in my opinion and a totally different car. i do miss a lot of things about my f80, but can't even compare the technology between the two.
